Grand Opening, Grand Closing... Bistro 57 Closed Already

A downtown restaurant that opened just last month closed this week. Bistro 57 opened in a long vacant space in the Healey Building. Located at 57 Forsyth Street, Bistro 57 opened in the transitioning Fairlie-Poplar District. Offices occupy the first two floors of The Healey Building, with residential units comprising the other 14 floors. Bistro 57 featured a French-American menu, initially serving lunch and dinner with plans to expand to breakfast should the demand come, but alas, it never did. Bistro 57 opened in a space that last housed a restaurant some 18 months ago: again the neighborhood alone could not support it. I went in once and was turned off by the small menu, unable to find something to my liking. My dining partner and I left without ordering. Sad to see a place open and close so quickly but perhaps they didn't plan for the significant decrease in Georgia State walk-by traffic as classes let out for the summer. ToNeTo Atlanta

How can this even be possible?

It absolutely amazes me how someone can go to all the trouble to open a business without any more homework and thought put into it than this.

I went here once for lunch, and the service was extremely slow and the food selection unimpressive. I'm not surprised it closed.

This restaurant is not closed. I picked up a sandwich today and a friend of mine got their Banh Mi over the weekend.

Nope, not closed although they may be at some point in the future. I went in at lunch and got a soda (pop) and there were several tables filled with customers. Menu isn't all that impressive considering other lunch offerings in the area. Not sure what other days or evenings are like, but it is open.

You should check your facts on this one. The restaurant looks like it is for sale (due to family reasons, per the ad posted on the front window), but it appears that it is still operating for lunch.

Hello,

The report of the restaurants closure came from someone I believe to be a reliable source. Alas their visit took place at night and they took the "For Sale" sign to mean the business was closed. While the restaurant is no longer offering dinner service, it seems they are still operating for the moment during lunch hours.

It looks like it might actually be closed now. The "For Sale" ad is now marked "Sold." Any word on what is coming next?
