Vetted to Replace Shuttered Lexie + Jane in Buckhead

Continuing a recent trend in Atlanta, a new concept and new management team is taking over a recently shuttered Atlanta business. Following last week's news that Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant would be opening in the just closed Zaya in Inman Park and the news that Local Three will be opening in the shuttered Joel Brasserie, Vetted Atlanta, a new women's boutique, will be opening in the shuttered Lexie + Jane in Buckhead. While details are still sketchy as to why Lexie + Jane closed so suddenly, some say the closure resulted from a breakup between owner Rebecca McWaters and her financier boyfriend.

Representatives from Vetted Atlanta tell me that the store will re-open in the coming weeks and will be run by retail marketing veteran and UGA grad, April Wilkins. Wilkins spent 17 years with SAKS Inc., and was a part of countless designer personal appearances and fashion shows. The store is said to feature "expertly curated, hand chosen designer lines and is set to become a secret hideaway for the southern belle with a New York sense of style." The concept sounds intriguing, but I'll reserve my comments until they open. As one might surmise from the logo, management intends to duplicate the concept in other cities if it proves successful. I hope that it is, but I still have memories of working at LUXE Atlanta and hearing of their intentions to duplicate in other cities, something that sadly never came to fruition. If, like me, you were a fan of LUXE founder Jenn Ripley, you can find her now LA based company "Archive Agency" here. ToNeTo Atlanta

It is already hard enough for these retailers and then people keep throwing rocks through their windows and stealing all their merchandise. Until that stops they'll never get a foothold in this economy.
