Verde Taqueria Sees Green in Former Fox & Hounds

Verde Taqueria in Brookhaven is looking to expand. I confirmed yesterday that the ownership group of Verde will soon assume control of the shuttered Fox & Hounds Pub & Grille on Collier Road and reopen it as their second Verde Taqueria sometime after the first of the year. Fox & Hounds closed abruptly last month. and there is talk that their sister establishment Hand in Hand in Virginia Highlands may soon suffer the same fate. Apparently the parent company of Hand in Hand and Fox & Hounds filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2008 as it could no longer satisfy its financial obligations.

The original Verde Taqueria opened the spring 2009 at Village Place on Dresden Drive. The center is now home to J. Christopher's and Yoforia and will soon see the opening of Kaleidoscope, a new restaurant being opened by Chef Joey Riley, most recently of the Buckhead Diner. The food at Verde is so-so, the salsa (when last I visited nearly a year ago) was clearly not made on premise, and the tacos were overpriced for their size. Tin Lizzy's or Taqueria del Sol beat them any day. With so many Georgia Tech and Georgia State students and plenty of young professionals in the area, it's likely the place will do well, if not for the food but for its ideal location. ToNeTo Atlanta

So GLAD to hear those Lawford pubs are going bust.

Especially F&H; the place smelled like sweat soaked socks after they've sat balled up in the corner of a closet for a couple days.

Ew.

And those Hand/Hand people are douchey (staff and patrons).

G'eah!

Taco Bell laughs at Tin Lizzy's and TDS. I can only imagine how good this Verde sequel will be. Does Pure Taqueria 2 ring a bell?

People love Mexican't food. They say it's authentic.

I live less than a mile from the
Brookhaven Verde. Never been and
would never go. Buford Hwy is just
around the corner and I don't have
to deal with the scenesters and the overpriced tacos.

Not a well thought out spot. A stone's throw from the hottest taqueria in town right now, Hankook. Not far from the flagship of taquerias in town, Taqueria del Sol. Not far from Bone Garden Cantina as well. Too many better options nearby.
