Lenox Less LUSH Lately

United Kingdom-based LUSH has closed their store in Lenox Square. Open since 2008, the store was the chain's first in Atlanta, but was soon followed by a shop-in-shop within Lenox's Macy's. Another location opened on the second level of Perimeter Mall, and additional shop-in-shops within Macy's remain open at Cumberland Mall and Town Center, although the Perimeter shop-in-shop closed.

The Lenox location was a LUSH's first in Atlanta when it opened in the summer of 2008, but perhaps the company has made the (smart) decision now, that having multiple stores in malls is a bad idea. Starbucks and Sunglass Hut can do it, but it would seem to be much more difficult for a niche line like LUSH to do the same.

LUSH sells a variety of cosmetics for hair, face and body along with bath and shower products. While many find their offerings unique in color and production, without animal testing or preservatives, there are others in Lenox with similar offerings. Kiehl's, Carol's Daughter, The Body Shop, The Art of Shaving, L'Occitane and others all sell premium cosmetics. Lush did not have the best of locations on the main mall level overlooking the food court. Had they waited for XXI Forever to open this fall, perhaps things would have improved. That said, it will be interesting to see who takes their place.

I am suprised they closed their freestanding store in lenox instead of the shop inside Macy's. I agree the location is not the best, but I would think they would get more "attention" with a storefront. I didnt know Atlanta had so many Lush shops. None have oppened thus far in Birmingham. I love the Karma and snowcake soaps...

I was at that store just a couple of days before they closed. An employee told me (if I understood her correctly) that they were offered a space in the "luxury wing" of Lenox at 3 times their current rent but said "Yeah, thanks but...No."

That area of the mall is horrible for visibility and ease-of-access via parking.

Disappointed to read of this closure. I have been using LUSH products since living in London in 1999. I won't be driving OTP just to get LUSHness, but will now try shopping online.
