It's Your Lucky Day: Meehan's Public House Opening at Atlantic Station

Meehan's Public House will open their fourth area location next year with a new restaurant and bar in Atlantic Station. Current Meehan's are in Vinings, Sandy Springs and the newest one, downtown in a portion of the former Davison's /Macy's building. 101 Concepts, Meehan's parent company, also operates Food 101 and the adjacent Cibo & Beve, both in Sandy Springs.

Meehan's marks the first local full service restaurant to open in Atlantic Station since STRIP, a restaurant from Atlanta-based Here to Serve that opened as a part of the center's opening in 2005. Locally-based Tin Drum Asia Cafe, a fast casual eatery, opened in late 2008 in the former Au Bon Pain. Also, as I mentioned earlier today, Atlanta-based Yogli Mogli will open at Atlantic Station instead of the previously announced California-based Pinkberry. Other restaurants added to the center include the ubiquitous eatery Subway and Which Wich. I wrote a piece earlier this year about how both Atlantic Station and Buckhead are promising local restaurants (and retailers), yet local chefs like Richard Blais and Ford Fry are opening their new eateries in other neighborhoods.

To date, Atlantic Station has seen the closures of restaurants Tahitian Noni Café, Dolce Enoteca, Geisha House, Ten Pin Alley, Au Bon Pain and Doc Greens. Additionally, PJ's Coffee and Bonehead's, both former Raving Brands concepts, have each closed and have reopened under new names. PJ's is now cafe nineteen, and Bonehead's is now Fishook Grille, each independent, no longer affiliated with a chain.

Although the exact location of the upcoming Meehan's in unclear, it's said to be located near cafe nineteen, leading me to think that my notion that Z Gallerie may be on its last leg, may be accurate. Though not local, Yard House, a California-based full service restaurant will open in the former Dolce next year as well.

If you could pick one local eatery that is missing and would do well in Atlantic Station, what would it and why? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

I think this is a good choice! A lot of people also go to Meehan's to hang out and drink, and a pub like this is really needed in Atlantic Station.

I'd hope that they'd take the Fox Sports Grill Space, and close that dump.
