Heirloom BBQ Crew Taking on Former Kitsch'n 155

Heirloom Market BBQ, which just last week announced they would end dine-in service at their Smyrna area restaurant and operate only as a catering business, may yet have a trick up its sleeve.

The Heirloom BBQ food / catering truck was spotted parked at the former Kitsch'n 155 on Clairmont Road over the weekend.  Strangely, the truck was parked normally, in a space, but has a parking violation boot on one of its tires.  The boot was yellow and appeared to be from a private company versus a governmental organization, but strangely there was no number to call, nor a sign posted informing the bootee of whom to call to have it removed.

According to a local source, Heirloom owners Cody Taylor and Jiyeon Lee are  opening an as yet unnamed eatery in place of Kitsch'n 155.  Little else is known about the restaurant aside from the Korean influenced restaurant will be local-driven, and Lee will helm the kitchen.

Heirloom Market BBQ ceased their dine-in service not for lack of business, but instead due to a mandate handed down by Cobb County and DOT.  Apparently the restaurant's main source of parking ("unpaved surfaces" both on and near their property) will soon be outlawed and enforced with ticketing.

Kitsch'n 155 closed this past March after about two years in business.  The restaurant had for two decades been Athens Pizza, a local pizza joint, before which it was an Arby's restaurant, thus its unique appearance.

More info on why Heirloom can only offer to-go and catering orders  in Smyrna can be found here

Are you excited about this change?  What concept would you be most excited about in this space?  Will the Heirloom crew succeed here?

They always have a boot on the smoker, it is there to prevent people from stealing it.

BTW best BBQ in town!

I hate to be anal, but "Smyrna area"??? Cumberland area (the actual correct answer), Vinings area, East Cobb area, Akers Mill area, etc, but definitely not Smyrna area which is both OTP and west of 75 where Heirloom is ITP (yes barely) and east of 75.

Yes, because although I have always wanted to eat at Heirloom, I never have because 1)it is located in fucked up Cobb and 2) the location in fucked up Cobb.

This will be in my neck of the woods and I look forward to whatever they decide to make it.

Have they already ended their dine-in service? Or is it coming up soon?

@Anon,

Yes, dine-in service ended yesterday. Sorry you missed it.

Thanks for the question and for reading the site.

If Heirloom does Korean BBQ in the Kitsch'n 155 location, then yay! If regular BBQ, then boo. Community Q, which is GREAT, is right down the street. The neighborhood needs some variety!

Having had multiple smokers stolen in the past we also keep the same boots on all of our smokers on trailers to prevent future thefts.
