Sprouts Coming to Roswell Market Place

Sprouts will grow in Roswell

Phoenix, Arizona-based Sprouts Farmers Market plans to open at Roswell Marketplace in Roswell.

The center, which sits at the corner of Mansell Road and Alpharetta Highway, was previously anchored by a Big Star grocery and had most recently featured Just Fitness 4U in a portion of the anchor space.  Just Fitness has relocated to another center nearby and in doing so will allow Sprouts to open as the center's new anchor.  Apparently, the center had been without a solid anchor for many years, and the reported Sprouts signing is a coup for not just Colliers, who handled the center's leasing, but for the entire Roswell area.

Currently the center is home to a Chipotle Mexican Grill and also one of only four Atlanta area Starbucks to feature beer & wine.  A franchised Tin Drum Asia Cafe is one of the center's newest dining options.

As I mentioned earlier this week, Sprouts is aggressively looking at opening a number of new stores in Atlanta where it plans to have four open by the end of 2014.  A new location will open in Snellville at The Shoppes at Webb Gin and another is planned for The Gateway project in Sandy Springs on Roswell Road. Fuqua Development is also reportedly in talks with Sprouts to anchor their new Peachtree Corners Market project on Peachtree Parkway in Norcross.  Additionally, it's entirely likely that Sprouts is the "natural grocer" mentioned for Fuqua's recently announced Barrett Parkway project.  The project simply referred to for now as "Barrett Parkway" will be located at the corner of US Highway 41 and Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.

Fuqua provides an estimated completion of "Summer 2014" for the Peachtree Corners project and "Spring 2015" for the Barrett Parkway project.

Given current intel, I'd expect for Sprouts in Roswell Market Place to open by the third quarter of next year.

Are you a Roswell resident excited for the arrival of a grocery alternative to Publix, Kroger and Walmart?

Where would you like to see a Sprouts open in metro Atlanta?

Are you willing to pay a little extra for a better, organic product or does it all boil down to the cheapest price?

Hi Alicia,

Thanks for tip and for your readership, they are both very much appreciated.

Should note that the Harry's on Upper Hembree will be relocating a couple of miles down the road to the Avalon development on Old Milton at 400. This area is going to be ripe for the picking for a higher end grocer.

@Anon,

Apparently this deal is not yet done. As for Harry's, are your sure it is being replaced by the WFM at Avalon?

Thanks for your comments and readership.

I've also heard rumors of locations at Emory Point and Loehmann's Plaza on North Druid Hills.

My friends West Coast and Phoenix friends are nuts about this place, and describe them as a blend of Whole Foods & Trader Joes.

Excellent! I did not realize that A&P was originally a Big Star. Thanks for always keeping us informed.

Harry's is owned by WFM. Not sure if the Harry's name will be transferred with the move, but the staff and brands will be.

Fuqua's controversial Glenwood project would get a lot more traction in the community with a Sprout's instead of a Walmart.

Harry's applied to rezone the current location to offices; the plan is to convert the building to just house the regional Whole Foods HQ.

Roswell MarketPlace had a Winn-Dixie. The Big Star was long ago located in what is now Roswell Town Center, but it was Roswell Mall back then. In fact, that Big Star had been a Richway Foods, but became Big Star after Grand Union bought out Colonial.
