Mod Restaurant Moving into Former Truffles in Buckhead

Asian eatery opening in former Truffles Grill

Mod Restaurant plans to open in July in the former Truffles Grill on Lenox Road in Buckhead.  Truffles opened as Truffles Cafe in 2010, and later re-branded as Truffles Grill before closing last April.  For many years, the restaurant was a Ruby Tuesday and later operated under the Truffles name, with Ruby Tuesday ownership calling the shots.

I know of at least one other regional chain restaurant that looked at the space but could not make it work given what they felt was an inadequate amount of parking.

Mod restaurant will reportedly be a Japanese steakhouse with sushi as well.

Sources say that Mod is associated with the Ichiban Dining Group.  The group includes Ichiban Steak & Sushi restaurants in Cumming and Alpharetta, as well as The One Sushi + in Brookhaven.  The One opened in 2012 in place of the beloved Library Coffee Co. on Caldwell Road, just off Dresden Drive.

If it's well executed, Mod could do well, as there is no true Japanese steakhouse in the immediate area. A few nearby options do exist, such as Nakato, Mo Mo Ya and Benihana, but Mod's proximity to Lenox Square, the Lenox MARTA station and numerous hotels give them an advantage.
