Bits & Bites

The 13th annual Taste of Atlanta festival takes place October 24th-26th at Tech Square in midtown.  This years festival boasts 90+ restaurants and four live cooking stages. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased in person at local Whole Foods Market and Cooks Warehouse locations as well as online through Ticket Alternative.

Atlanta-based Piece of Cake plans to open a new location in Duluth late this month. The company's eighth overall location, the Duluth store will be joined by a ninth in Alpharetta by the end of the year.  Existing Piece of Cake locations are in Buckhead, Roswell, Decatur, Camp Creek, Collier Road, Dunwoody and Vinings.

Announced in early August, Yogurtland at TOWN Brookhaven has yet to start construction.  The delay is reportedly due to confusion over the installation of a grease trap.  The location will reportedly still open by the end of the year, right in time for the slow season.

Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint remains closed in Alpharetta with no sign of a renovation.  According to an Uncle Maddio's corporate employee, the location is "delayed."

Franchise dessert joint Nothing Bundt Cakes plans to open a new location "soon" at The Collection at Forsyth in Cumming.  The chain has existing Atlanta area locations on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs and on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta.

Office Depot at Peachtree Square in south Buckhead is having a "Moving Sale."  The small format Office Depot replaced a former Eckerd Drugstore a number of years ago.   The store is slated to close November 15th. Customers are being directed to the nearby Office Depot location on Howell Mill Road near Walmart, and Piedmont Road near Marshalls. A number of Office Depot and Office Max stores locally and nationally have closed or relocated following their merger earlier this year.

A Ma Maniére, ("My Way" in French) a "luxury streetwear boutique," will host a soft opening preview day tomorrow at their new Atlanta location.  The boutique is located to the left of bartaco on Marietta Street, adjacent to where Arden's Garden will soon open.  The boutique features clothing, footwear and accessories from brands such as COMME des GARÇONS PLAY, BAPE, MCM, Nike, BBC icecream, Prps, New Balance, Stussy and others.  A Ma Maniére is part of Charlotte-based Social Status.  Social Status boutiques are similar to A Ma Maniére and are in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as East Liberty and the Cultural District in Pittsburgh.  Sources say additional locations will soon open in Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina.

ColdLife Organics has changed its name to Elephant Grocers and has expanded its offerings beyond just organic products.  The grocery delivery company will continue to offer products from Brasstown Beef, Spotted Trotter, and White Oak Pastures, as well as new offerings such as local artisan soaps and lotions, and even household products like Coca-Cola, Bounty, Windex, and Tide.

  2. I don't know much about yogurt other than how to eat it but why does a yogurt place need a grease trap?

  5. There's a new boutique in Chamblee called Hello Gorgeous at 3400 Malone Drive in long-vacant retail space. I think it's going to open this weekend. No affiliation; I live in the condos above.
