Florida Chain Not Chicken About Adding New Locations in Georgia

A new Pollo Tropical in Dallas sports a new look and what appears to be a smaller footprint.
A former bank and a former gas station will soon make way for  more chicken, and doughnuts too!

Miami, Florida-based Pollo Tropical, one third of Addison Texas-based Fiesta Restaurant Group Inc., is looking at adding at least two more locations to metro Atlanta.

In Snellville, a two-story former BB&T bank branch will soon be razed to make way for a Pollo Tropical as well as a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop.  The bank, near the intersection of Scenic Highway and Dogwood Road, was built in 1990 and closed in 2013.

The two restaurants will be built side by side with the Pollo Tropical slated to be 3921 square feet and the Krispy Kreme 2464 square feet.

Cabana Grill, a new concept from Fiesta Group's Taco Cabana brand, opened on Scenic Highway in Snellville this past April.

In East Cobb, Pollo Tropical has applied for a special variance to redevelop a former Shell gas station in an outpacel of the Kroger-anchored Parkaire shopping center.  The parcel sits on Johnson Ferry Road near the its intersection with Lower Roswell Road.

Pollo Tropical re-entered the Atlanta market in 2011 with a restaurant in Lawrenceville.  Now opening corporate stores in metro Atlanta, the chain previously failed in an attempt to enter metro Atlanta via a franchisee in the late 90's.  Today, the chain operates a total of five locations throughout metro Atlanta.

Where would you like to see Pollo Tropical open next?  What is your favorite fast casual / fast food chicken chain?  Would you support a re-entry of El Pollo Loco into the Atlanta market?
