ROXX Tavern to be "Rebranded" as Hudson Grille

ROXX Tavern gone, but Hudson Grille coming soon.

After (temporarily) closing about a week ago with the promise of renovations and improvements, ROXX Tavern Tucker will not be reopening.  In place of ROXX, Hudson Grille will open. Hudson Grille is a bar & grill concept from Atlanta-based Metrotainment Cafes.

According to an email sent to fans of ROXX Tavern,  owner Dean Chronopoulos formed a "partnership" with Hudson Grille in "rebranding" the Tucker restaurant. The "rebranding does not come as an easy choice, but as a business and personal decision, I think it is the best option."

Chronopoulos goes on to say  "You will continue to see me at the Hudson Grille Tucker location and I will make sure your food and service are the best."

Chronopoulos states in his message that the plan is to have Hudson Grille Tucker open the first week of December.  According to a rep at Hudson Grille, the Tucker location is reportedly on track to open mid-to-late December. According to the same rep, the restaurant was "sold" [to Metrotainment Cafes.]

In case you missed it, ROXX Tavern opened in late May and closed Sunday, November 9th.

The restaurant, located at 2075 Northlake Parkway, was originally a Chili's and later a Twisted Taco restaurant.

There are currently five other Hudson Grille locations in metro Atlanta in Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Midtown, Downtown and Sandy Springs.

Hudson Grille is also planning a new location in Kennesaw on Cobb Place Lane which is currently slated to open early next year.  The Kennesaw Hudson Grille will replace Bailey's Pub & Grille, a similar eatery.

So this sounds like a hybrid form of franchise? Is Dean an owner or a managing partner or something else? Should be interesting to see how Hudson Grill competes with Marlows Tavern which is about 1/2 mile away.

What is the status of the original ROXX on Cheshire Bridge Road?

@Anon RE: Marlows,

Yes, it will be very interesting to see how things play out. I don;t quite get what role Dean will be playing or how the deal was structured. The nearby Marlows is reportedly one of the chains most successful locations.

Thanks for your comments and readership.

@Anon RE: Original ROXX,

According to Dean, that location will remain open now... and forever!

Thanks for your comments and readership.

Probably incorrect in this, but here's my idea on how this came about.

Hudson Grille has paid attention to how well Marlow's has done in the area and have been looking for the right opportunity in.

Roxx owner wasn't looking to leave just yet, but needed help as seemed overextended with both locations.

HG made R an offer to let them in, which gives them close competition to MT, with little infrastructure costs. R gets to keep second location and has back up to continue to stay open.

Seems a win/win.

Dean will be the Operating Partner of the Tucker location. The downside is the Chesibridge Roxx has been trending down steadly the last six months. With poor uneven service and losing a dozen long time servers over the past several months you can see Deans lack of imprint is effecting the location.

The Roxx on Chesibridge will never lose its core customers who come more for the drinks then the food but that can not keep the doors open.... Maybe it's time to put on your Deathwatch list for 2015

The food at the Hudson Grille in Brookhaven is consistently horrible - Marlow's Tavern has nothing to fear if the food at this new Hudson Grille location is of the same quality.

Not surprised. You don't close a business that is doing well. I hope Dean places more focus back on the original Roxx. Turnover has been huge. Some great longtime servers have left.

The menu needs updating along with the cocktails. Of course the last thing anyone should not do is suggest a change. Dean does not handle suggestions well.........

I frequent Roxx on Cheshire Bridge but questioned the viability of a Tucker location. Roxx is very unique and caters well to the gay community. Only so many of those neighborhoods around...

Dean does not handle suggestions at all! He has all the answers, hence the turnover.

I loved the atmosphere at Roxx Northlake. Food was just ok. But I like to patronize local establishments so if Hudson Grille ups the quality on the menu and I definitely will be a regular. Also hope that Glenn (manager) stays!

I thought the food was good. Atmosphere great. I hope they keep up the food quality as it was with Roxx.
A welcome addition to the Northlake area. For some reason that location has never taken off. Hard to understand with O'Charlies across the street which is always busy with so so food.

Late update: long-time manager of Roxx Cheshire Bridge leaving. Probably most responsible for the good vibe there. I suspect a swift decline in Roxx's future. Sad..

We loved ROXX at Northlake - the food was great and the service always attentive - and were deeply disappointed at the change. We had family dinner there weekly and had a group that met there every Monday night during the summer. H.G. is not of the same quality in either food or drink. Yes, Dean was ...; we met him twice and were unimpressed with his customer manner. However, there was a really good manager there who made certain things were done well. Guess one does what one must to keep family and business together.
