A new Starbucks is coming soon to Duluth. The new Starbucks with a drive-thru will open in the former Krispy Kreme at 1550 Pleasant Hill Road, in an outparcel of Marketplace Club. The coffee shop will make use of the existing drive-thru left from Krispy Kreme, which relocated to 2346 Pleasant Hill early this year.
Adjacent to the new Starbucks in suite 101, Moe's Southwest Grill will open in suite 102. The new burrito joint is further along than its neighbor in relocating its space and looks as though it could be open in 60 days or so. On the other side of I-85, close to Gwinnett Place Mall, Chipotle Mexican Grill operates a very busy location whose business Moe's will hope to poach.
Also in Marketplace Club, another new market and restaurant, Green Olive Market, is opening. The new business will occupy the far left end space of the Goodwill anchored center and will reportedly open in a few months. Green Olive will serve burgers and shawarma and will also sell ethnic meats and groceries.
Bridge Boutique has closed its Buckhead location on Roswell Road in Powers Ferry Square shopping center. The boutique, which opened in mid 2013, closed Christmas Eve. A store associate at the original store in Virginia Highland indicated that a new Bridge Boutique is slated to open shortly after the new year at Ponce City Market. Back at Powers Ferry Square, the closures of Bridge and Yum Yum Dessert Co., next door, create what could be combined to be an approximately 1,500 square foot space.
Paul's in Peachtree Hills and Social Vinings in Vinings have closed. The two eateries, both owned by Chef Paul Albrecht of Pano's & Paul's fame, had been for sale for months. Unable to find a buyer, the decision was made to close them ahead of the new year so as not to incur the cost of renewing the liquor licenses.
TGI Friday's has closed its freestanding Mall of Georgia location in Buford. The roughly 5500 square foot restaurant, located at the corner of Mall of Georgia Boulevard and Buford Drive in an outparcel of Marketplace at Mill Creek shopping center, had been open for about 15 years.

I've been told by a source that some sort of a home/antique store is going into the old Bridge location. The source is related to the new owner and would not give me specifics.
I am SOOOOOO excited about the new Starbucks on Pleasant Hill! It has been many years since we have had one with a drive thru anywhere in the area. We've really missed the one that was near there-I hope it succeeds, I've lived close by for 15 years and the area has really gone downhill. I think it will do well there if folks can just pull through and it's right next to a nice Chickfila. I'm thrilled to learn that, thanks for sharing! 😂 👍 👏
This is so weird Moes was a block away in the old Hardee's just two years ago. I also question starbucks moving to this side of 85 all the offices are on the opposite side and nobody (myself included) want to get hung up in the diamond interchange just to go to Starbucks. I stop at the existing starbucks next to Einstein at least 3 times a week. All the office buildings by NCR are on the opposite side of 85. Dumb dumb dumb
While I’m also a little confused why they would open a business in this area I suspect the drive-thru is the key. I assume they are hoping to catch commuters heading to I-85 from Ronald Regan Parkway and the greater Lilburn/Mountain Park/Snellville area. The big question is will there be enough business throughout the rest of the day to keep them open.
There is some hotel traffic for Sonesta but that's the only other reason I can think. There is a reason Krispy Kreme moved to the OTHER side of 85 leaving a perfectly fine building good enough for Starbucks... the traffic didn't support the location. All the office building traffic is over there where KK is now not where they used to be.
Krispy Kreme moved because they wanted to have their own larger building. No one that I know goes to KK for their coffee which is horrible. Folks go to KK for their doughnuts.
Starbucks shut down just down from this soon to be location a few years before KK left. The old KK location will be perfect for Starbucks and the position of that drive thru is much better than the old one. I hated the old Starbucks location there. Smart move and YES they will have plenty of people from growing Snellville, etc that access 85 from that side.
Some of us live and work on the other side of 85 towards Lawrenceville Highway and we do not want to get in that mess on the other side on Pleasant Hill! There is a nice Starbucks at Satellite and Pleasant Hill that does a nice business but it takes me at least 20 minutes to get there from just a few miles away. I totally agree, people coming from Ronald Reagan going to 85 will use that drive thru every day! It will have very easy access in and out. Those of us who live over here are so excited :-) I have owned a home in the area for 15 years and have watched so many businesses come and go. I have cared for my 4 year old grandchild since birth and I am beside myself with joy over the prospect of a drive through Starbucks ���� I will be customer #1 ♡
