Camp Creek Catches Two New Restaurants and a Wireless Carrier Too!

The new (and improved?)  Boneheads logo
Power center adds to its roster.

Camp Creek Marketplace on Camp Creek Parkway in East Point will be adding locations of Boneheads [Fire Grilled], Chipotle Mexican Grill and AT&T.

Atlanta-based Boneheads will open in a 2,800 square foot portion of an existing outparcel of the Target-anchored center.  Boneheads recently  tweaked both its logo and tagline, dropping "grilled fish piri piri chicken," in favor of "fire grilled."   Boneheads has not a good track record as of late, with locations in both Brookhaven and a "flagship" in Buckhead closing not long after opening.

The Brookhaven restaurant, located in TOWN Brookhaven, opened in 2012 and closed in mid-2014.  The Buckhead "flagship" on Pharr Road opened in 2014 and closed less than six months later.  A newer location in Alpharetta keeps rather strange (read: limited) hours: Monday  through Thursday 11am-4pm, and Friday and Saturday 11am-8pm.  It's unclear when the new East Point location will open or what hours they may keep. The location is absent from the official Boneheads website but is present on the official ddr site plan for the property.

Chipotle and at&t will share a soon to be constructed outparcel next to an existing Red Lobster.  The site was previously home to a Johnny Carino's, but has been vacant since the Italian restaurant closed this past fall.  The Johnny Carino's building was demolished recently to make way for the new development.  (Johnny Carino's Italian, or just Carino's Italian as it's known today, once had at least four locations in Georgia, but now all are closed.)

Chipotle does not seem to be slowing development amidst their food safety issues.  A number of new Chipotle restaurants are in the pipeline in metro Atlanta including restaurants in Sandy Springs and Duluth.

What other restaurants would you like to see open in East Point?  Do you think Boneheads will do well in this center? Do you think Chipotle's troubles are behind it?

Please share your thoughts below.

Restaurants & retailers looking for success need look no further than East Point GA - A City On the Right Track! where a goldmine awaits their arrival! East Point GA is underserved with wealthy residents with money to spend driving long distances to shop & eat. Many of our residents say time after time they are tired of having to drive north for restaurants, upscale merchandise, fine Dining & top shelf services. Johnny Carino's mentioned in the article was far and away the company's sales leader in Georgia for all of 2015. When affluent customers are asking for your services business should be lined up to come to East Point & as you see they finally are! The biggest underestimation of East Point is it's draw is far greater than 3-5 miles as shopper North in College Park & south in the city of Fairburn frequent East Point! East Point is indeed the place to be for new business success!

Ok, Mr. Chamber of Commerce. If your residents are asking for it, maybe they need to put their money where their mouths are. Because clearly they didn't value the Barnes and Noble store that was at Camp Creek. It was replaced by (yet another) weave emporium. And if Johnny Carino's did so well, why did they close?

Many of the national retailers that operate in Camp Creek have FAR lower reviews online than their counterparts in other parts of the city. Perhaps the residents clamoring for better retail could start by learning and teaching their kids better customer service.

Camp Creek was great when it opened but the traffic in and around it make it gridlocked much of the time. The incredibly dumb decision to put in stop signs for only some sides of intersections means you can get in to Target's parking lot but you can forget leaving until you sit and stew for 20 mins. Maybe keeping shoppers IN was the idea. But it drives me to go much farther out of my way down to Peachtree City or McDonough rather than deal with the insane Camp Creek traffic. No way.

We still need a Whole Foods or a Sprout.

Nope we need a REI and a Tesla dealership

It would be wonderful to have healthy food options like Fresh2Order or Doc Green. It would also be great to have a Whole Foods in the area and perhaps a Cheesecake Factory or a similar restaurant.

Chipotle!!! where Johnny Carinos used to be. Sure now that Chipotle has been condemned with eColi let's feed it to the Black neighborhoods!!!

Pappadeax's, Copeland's, Fresh2Go, Corner Bakery, bring back Barnes and Noble (we did not want a "weave emporium"), Trader Joe's (get rid of Shopper's World), Panerra, AND fix the entry/exit strategy...someone really dropped the ball on that one.

There were PLENTY residents who were VERY unhappy about Barnes and Noble leaving. Additionally, MANY of their locations closed globally. "Teach their kids better customer service"???? Your ignorance is comical. Are we assuming ALL of "their" parents are residents of this neighborhood?

I'm looking forward to Chipotle, a Trader Joes/Sprouts/Whole Foods/Famers Market something healthy and no more Beauty Supply anything near. Here's a good tip when you complete the Chipotle put an exist that leads out towards the highway/exist ramp at camp creek because I promise you this added restaurant will only cause more traffic delays. While the concrete people are paving and pouring the concrete listen to the residents and provide another exit for the marketplace.

Let's be honest... Barnes & Noble closed (this location and others) because they couldn't compete with online alternatives to both print and digital books. Can we stop beating that dead horse now?

I think Chipotle and Bonehead's will both be a great addition to the marketplace. There is currently a lack of quick-serve options to get fresh, non-fried foods in that area.

Word on the street is East Point is considering a new Dave & Buster's location just off Camp Creek. It'll sit behind the Parking Spot, across from the Public Storage. While the business could be a good addition (or bad, we'll see) a major concern is how close it'll be to the established residential community on the other side of that space (Williamsburg area) especially considering the talk of re-opening that part of Redwine Rd that will lead traffic through that quiet community towards Washington Rd.

Bottom line, while I do like to see new business coming to the area, I hope there will be an effort to focus on businesses that provide goods & services that aren't already readily available in multiples. Also, would love if we focused on spreading out the love instead of continuing to stack businesses and homes on top of each other at Camp Creek which only increases traffic problems and doesn't contribute to surrounding neighborhoods. Glad to see a Planet Fitness happening at Greenbriar also.

Copelands, Houston's, La Parilla, Chuck E Cheese, monkey joes, Olive Garden, Smokey Bones, PF Chang's, A mall further down camp creek around fulton industrial or before, Honey Baked Ham, Trader Joe's, Le Madeline's, Café intermezzo Petite ( I say petite because it could be a small one that is not as full service). I have many more ideas, if you're interested.

We will not see many of these higher end restaurants unless per capita income rises, and this is a function of
Jobs and education. Until we improve the education in the area we will not attract the higher end business and
Attractions that go along with them. Another issue is crime; crime must also be address to continue growth and the
Issues are related to poor performing schools. But my short term choice for a sustainable restaurant Is Pollo Tropical, they have recently
Grown into Georgia but have maintained there growth to the northern suburbs, but that chain would do well
In this area.

I'm excited about the new businesses and restaurants coming to camp creek. I would love to have a Home Goods, Kirklands or Pier One so I don't have to go out of my way. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods would be great additions as well.

I'd also like the add the traffic issues at Camp Creek is a huge dissatisfyer for the community. With that being said, I really hope new exit roads and improvements to traffic flow are implemented with all the new business construction.

A Panera Bread Company would be great. I would love to know who's in charge of the two way stop. That's ridiculous, and is a huge deterrent.

All of the anonymous comments...
Anyway, my name is Shelease and I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. To be clear, the Barnes and Noble closed due to the shift of how books are being read. Sales were soft as many are purchasing ebooks. This is a trend worldwide. I don't believe that no one in the community didn't value the bookstore. I will be happy to assist those who desire to move...IJS

I'm a little upset about the Barnes & Noble closing, but understand that it was due to competition from ebooks and online sales. However, I think that it was really stupid to replace it with a weave/hair store. It reinforces stereotypes. I would have been ok with a pier 1 imports, crate & barrel, or home goods.

I would like to see a whole foods, farmburger, panera bread, applebees, chilis, corner bakery, or California pizza kitchen come to the area.

I think Boneheads will do great.

I am very excited about both the Boneheads and the Chipotle. I would love to have a Carrabbas in the area or Jim N Nicks. I would love for some a few higher end restaurants or stores to be added, but I do not know if they will thrive currently. We surely need more options. Of the restaurants that I actually eat at in camp creek marketplace I am sick of eating at most of them.

Yes!!! Customer service, traffic, lack of variety in food choices...all these things do camp Creek injustice! There are plenty of people with money and spending it even with all the issues...imagine if we had better options!

Camp Creek isn't that bad of a place to shop; it is the traffic/planning that is a buzzkill for me. I ride MARTA over there and it is a pedestrian nightmare. I'll deal if I'm going to Publix, or Ross/Marshalls. Otherwise, it is definitely Midtown/Buckhead/somewhere that is more transit and pedestrian friendly.

We definitely need a restaurant that serves breakfast, like IHOP or Waffle House....
