Clay's Sports Cafe "Scores" A New Location

Popular sports cafe has secured a new location in Sandy Springs

Clay's Sports Cafe, which shuttered last week after over 20 years in business, has found a new home nearby.  Clay's has secured a lease for a second generation restaurant space in Hammond Springs shopping center near the corner of Hammond Drive and Roswell Road.   The new location is  one mile south of the former location.

Clay's will occupy (a portion of) suite B-201 D-245, a space most recently occupied by Jason's Deli Moksha Indian Cuisine.  The suite is listed as 4,957 square feet, of which Clay's will reportedly occupy about 2300 square feet.

The restaurant mentioned the new location on their Facebook page earlier this afternoon adding, "We don't have an exact date yet, we have to wait on permits. We appreciate your love and support!"

In Hammond Springs, Clay's will join existing eateries Cafe Sunflower, Cheeseburger Bobby's,Kingston’s Jamaican Bistro, Flying Biscuit Cafe and recent additions Pinocchios Incredible Italian and Jinya Ramen Bar.

Are you excited about the new Clay's location? Do you think the expansion is needed / warranted?  What is currently your favorite restaurant in Hammond Springs?

Please share your thoughts below.

***This post was updated at 3:48PM on August 3rd to reflect clarification of the exact suite and size of the new Clay's.

Huge for Clays and for that center. Ever since Jason's left it has been a tough spot to fill. Clay's has a cult following. Will they make the space everything it can be? There's a lot of opportunity there - and no real sports bar nearby (Taco Mac is a mile south in the Prado, but it is so "cookie cutter"). Looking forward to this one.

We love Clay's many times had to wait for a table and other time need a lot of seats for friends and had to split up.

This location is much closer to me so I'll be making a visit.

That is a huge upgrade in digs and adjacent traffic. Hope they are ready to handle the rent and the potential dine-in demand. Hands down the best wings in the ATL.

I'm excited that the parking situation for the new Clay's won't be so "jacked up"... I hate the parking at the old place.

Terrible decision for Clay's. The Indian spot is in the back of the center and has poor visibility next to Lowe's. And the Cantina side at El Azteca has become a great place to watch sports, and has very affordable drinks and great bartenders. And the Ship and Anchor pub is right on Hammond and is also a good place to watch sports.

While the Thai restaurant next door to the new Clay's is great, the Italian spot is not doing well, and the Ramen spot will wear off soon. Its been a losing center for years for a reason. Not enough parking either.

Clay's is my favorite spot for beer and wings. They have a great staff and the prices are unbeatable in Atlanta. They could open in any location they choose and will still succeed. I won't mind paying an extra dollar if it means I get my neighborhood hangout spot back. Good luck!

Can't wait! Clay's had the best wings in town for sure. Glad the new space will be larger and better parking, woohoo!!! Anita.

Best wings in Atlanta, hands down. Please reopen quick!!! I need to put on some wing weight before winter arrives.

I heard last week that the deal for Clay's move to Hammond Springs fell through, and checking their Facebook page, all mention of it has been deleted. I hope they can find a new home....as a former Memphian, I am STOKED about Gus's, but I also loved Clay's and want them to find a new Sandy Springs home soon. Miss them!

I hope they will now have room for a salt shaker!
