The Camera Doctor, a longstanding Decatur area business is closing.  Owner Steve Schwab is retiring and liquidating the store ahead of a planned end of September closure.  Schwab, 69, has operated the North Decatur Road store for more than 25 years.  The Decatur store, previously a Jack's Cameras, was renamed The Camera Doctor in 2000.  The closure of The Camera Doctor comes on the heels of the recent closure of McMahan Shoes in the same center.    

Tin Can Oyster Bar is now open in the former Shucks Oyster & Wine Bar in TOWN Brookhaven.

Filo's is now open in the former Cafe Ago at Chastain Square on Roswell Road.  Tin Can and Filo's are both part of Teela Restaurant Group.  

Originally opened in 1989,Virginia Highland mainstay American Roadhouse now has a third new owner in the last few years.  The new owner reportedly plans to keep the restaurant menu and name the same, and may even expand it next year.    

Von Maur, the Davenport, Iowa-based department store with locations in Dunwoody and Alpharetta, is opening a third Atlanta area location.  Slated to open September 17th, the newest Von Maur will be at Mall of Georgia in a 165,000 square foot former Nordstrom.  The other Atanta area Von Maur stores are at Perimeter Mall (234,000 square foot former Bloomingdale's/Macy's) and North Point (140,000 square foot former Belk/Lord & Taylor).  

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened its seventh Georgia location this past weekend in Cartersville.  The new, freestanding 3,200 square foot restaurant opened on East Main Street in an outparcel of the soon-to-open new Kroger Marketplace.  Another new Freddy's is expected to open soon in Fuqua Development's Whole Foods Market-anchored Kennesaw Marketplace in Kennesaw.   

Toscano & Sons Italian Market announced last night that they will close September 18th, after ten years in business.  The cafe and market, originally located on Marietta Street near 5 Seasons Brewing Company, moved to their current Virgina-Highland home in 2013.  "Beginning today, all of our non-perishable items are 25% off. This includes items such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, pasta, sweets, baking items, jams, honey, spreads, bruschetta's, spices and a whole host of other items."    

Broadway Cafe, a longstanding Toco Hill kosher eatery, has been listed for sale.  The business is priced at $225,000 and qualified buyers are invited to "keep as is or convert."    

Richie Arpino Salon & Studio reopened today at its new Buckhead home.  Formerly located on Paces Ferry Place and most recently at 326 Pharr Road, Richie Arpino's namesake salon can now be found on the fifth floor of the 550 Pharr Road building.  550 Pharr is also the home of newish Thai eatery Bangkok Station, as well as CORE Buckhead and Anytime Fitness.    

Two new businesses are bound for Inman Quarter (IQ).    

Select Shades, a new Atlanta-based sunglasses retailer, plans to open their first permanent brick & mortar location in IQ before Black Friday. Situated in a 1,045 square foot space, Select Shades will offer patrons a broader selection from iconic brands like Ray-Ban, Persol and Gucci, as well as a large selection of popular regional brands like Costa and Kaenon.  The store will also emphasize bringing new local brands to the market like Shwood, Quay, and Krewe du optic. 

Joining Select Shades is The Men's Parlour at IQ.  The 1,200 square foot men's salon replaces the short lived The Stout Brothers, a beer market, which closed in early July after less than a year in business.  Thuy Bich, a licensed cosmetologist and sister of Alex and Chris Kinjo of neighboring IQ business MF Sushi, was previously involved with her brothers’ restaurants but has decided to partner with another friend and enter the grooming industry.  Bich hopes to be open "in October" and is reportedly already looking to expand the concept in metro Atlanta.
