Slice Cut From Brookhaven Dining Options

Slice of Brookhaven has closed

Slice of Brookhaven, originally Pizza Rock and later Pizza Shack, closed last Friday after about three years in business.  The restaurant was located in a freestanding building on Caldwell Road just off Dresden Drive, behind Savi Provisions.

The restaurant announced their closure this past Friday evening with the following message on their Facebook page:

"First and foremost, thank you for your support of Slice of Brookhaven over the last 3 years. It's time for a new operator and a new concept. The Dresden pizza options have become quite plentiful, and the new operator will certainly bring another option that is not currently offered in the neighborhood. Again, thank you for your support, and we are excited about the new restaurant option. Sincerely, Slice of Brookhaven Owners and Operators"

Strangely, this was the first message the restaurant posted to their Facebook page since they promoted "Jucao UFC Fight Night at Slice of Brookhaven" on September 9th.

Vero Pizzeria, which opened nearly a year ago on Dresden Drive, a stone's throw from Slice, surely did not impact the existing pizza restaurant in a positive way.  Vero, from established restaurant veteran Michael Arnette, benefits from being the sibling concept of neighboring restaurants, Valenza and Haven.

A sign posted on Slice's front door claims a "Great New Restaurant Opening Q1 2017."  Representatives from both Kaleidoscope Pub and Haven both indicate that their respective groups are not involved in whatever is replacing Slice.

Brookhaven resident and restaurateur  Scott Serpas has been trying to open a restaurant in Brookhaven for years and had reportedly shown interest in assuming the lease on the Slice space.  Serpas is planning to open a new restaurant in the Dresden Village development and it is believed that if he were to take on the Slice space, it would only be temporary.

Are you surprised to see Slice of Brookhaven close?  What kind of restaurant would you like to see open in place of Slice?  Would you like to see Scott Serpas open a temporary restaurant in place of Slice?

Please share your thoughts below.

Hi Eli. Any word on that restaurant that was supposed to occupy that old school service station on Peachtree Boulevard where Brookhaven meets Chamblee? Not the one where Chase is going up at the former buddy's - the one down the road opposite the golf course.

LOVE Scott Serpas! Go for it!

The people behind Haven were supposed to do a Burger Place at that Service Station at the Peachtree Southern border of Chamblee - Nothing going on with that. Same with the SouthWest place in Chamblee next to Chamblee City Hall - nothing go o there in that very ugly building that was Bistro. They need to tear that place down and do a restaurant/bar with Rooftop Dining. Suppose that would work better if those condos were ever built next to the post office. Seems with all the tax breaks thrown to the places closer to the WalMart not much is going to happen on Antique Row or nearby Chamblee Plaza.

Sad to see it go as I'm not sure if there are any other spots in Brookhaven that offer offer slices.

IMHO the pizza wasn't that great. Seems like I wasn't alone in that opinion.

QuickTrip has pizza by the slice. But Brookhaven does not have a QuickTrip.
Closest one is next to Plaza fiesta.

Corner Pizza at Ashford Dunwoody/Johnson Ferry sells slices during lunch.

Best place to get a single slice of pizza not just in Brookhaven but anywhere in the ATL is Corner Pizza in Brookhaven at Johnson ferry and Ashford Dunwoody. I want to say the problem at Chamblee Plaza a.k.a. the Blee is not anything to do with the city or tax incentives, it has to do with the sketchy ownership.

Vintage in Chamblee was a better option.

"QuickTrip has pizza by the slice. But Brookhaven does not have a QuickTrip." is maybe the most depressing thing I've ever read.
