New Indian Eatery Hoping to be Victorious in Troubled Midtown Space

New eatery planned for former Madre & Mason

Paul Nair of Savi Provisions has leased the 3,700 square foot former Madre & Mason restaurant on Dutch Valley Road in the bottom of the Belvedere condos and plans to open a new Indian eatery in its place later this month.  The new restaurant, JAI HO Indian Kitchen & Bar, will be open seven days a week including weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group represented the seller in the transaction.  Prior to Madre & Mason the restaurant operated as a Mediterranean restaurant called Couscous and before that, an Italian eatery called Allegro.

From Wikipedia:
"Jai ho" (Hindi: जय हो), also transliterated "Jay ho", is a Nepali and Hindi phrase which can be roughly translated as "Let [the] victory prevail", "Let there be victory", or "May there always be victory". Particularly, in Nepali, it means "Let victory be yours"

Anish Nair (not Paul's brother, but related), Savi's corporate Executive Chef will partner with Paul in the opening of Jai Ho.

Paul, who has a culinary degree, has 30 years of experience in retail, wine and food.  Paul's Savi Provisions (formerly Savi Urban Market) has grown from one location in Inman Park to also include markets in Midtown, Brookhaven and Buckhead.  Anish, who also has a culinary degree, has close to 20 years of experience and reportedly won an annual Iron Chef competition on Hilton Head Island.

Vijeesh Parayil will serve as the restaurant's Executive Chef and reportedly previously worked as a chef at "one of the top Indian restaurants in New York," according to Anish  The restaurant will feature an "Indian Fusion" menu and will be presented in an "upscale, casual and hip" environment.

In addition to Jai Ho's Indian Fusion menu, Anish says the restaurant will  feature "New American" offerings as well as classic brunch options like omelets, a carving station mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Are you excited for the opening of Jai Ho?  What is your favorite place for Indian cuisine in Atlanta?  Do you think an Indian eatery will find success in this previously cursed space?

Eventually that space is going to be a home run. it's as close the beltline as anything

Morningside will welcome this cuisine for sure. I also think the location is great (long term) with the patio overlooking the Beltine.

Just a note that savii provisions in Buckhead failed quickly and closed years ago. Only the wine market remains standing.

Hope they can do a proper Vindaloo or a Phaal.. tough to find a good curry house in ATL

We are excited to see them fill the space and hope they can create a menu that is reasonable in price and not too high-end as to preclude it from being a regular weekly treat. Good luck to them!

the savi in buckhead did not fail and i am a regular there and from my view it seems to prosper only the gourmet market had closed because of them no longer needing the extra space
