Bad Daddy's Burger Bar Destined for Decatur

Burger joint secures second metro lease.

Bad Daddy's Burger Bar, a growing burger chain, is planning what is expected to be its second Atlanta area restaurant next year in Decatur. The new 3,600 square foot restaurant will be located in North Decatur Square, the new mixed use development expected to begin construction soon at the corner of Church Street and North Decatur Road in Decatur.

This past March, ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively broke news of Bad Daddy's first Atlanta area location which will open in the new Parkview on Peachtree development on Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee.

Bad Daddy's is a casual restaurant, similar in some ways to Red Robin Gourmet Burgers & Brews, and offers a variety of burgers and non-burgers, along with assorted salads, sides and adult beverages.

The first Bad Daddy's Burger Bar opened in Charlotte, N.C. in 2007.  The company now franchises and licenses 22 Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar restaurants in three states: North Carolina, South Carolina and Colorado.  In 2015, Bad Daddy's became a wholly owned subsidiary of Golden, Colorado-based Good Times Restaurants Inc.  Good Times, which is publicly traded (NASDAQ: GTIM), operates 37 Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard between Colorado and Wyoming.

Bad Daddy's, which will be located just outside the city limits of Decatur, but will face stiff competition from homegrown Atlanta favorites Farm Burger and Grindhouse Killer Burgers, both of which operate popular locations not far away, within the city limits.

In North Decatur Square, Bad Daddy's will be joined by restaurants gusto! and Takorea as well as Sage Dental, Club Pilates and Hollywood Feed, a new "natural & holistic" dog & cat food store.  The center will be anchored by a new 35,000 square foot 365 by Whole Foods Market grocery store. The roughly 18 acre North Decatur Square property is also expected to feature about 450 apartments.

Harold Shumacher with The Shumacher Group represented Bad Daddy's Buger Bar in their lease.

Have you been to a Bad Daddy's Burger Bar?  If so, how was it?  Do you think Bad Daddy's is making a good move to open in Decatur?  What other tenants would you like to see open in the North Decatur Square development?
