Hilton Plans "Extended Stay" in Kennesaw

Three new Hilton Hotels are coming to Kennesaw.

A new dual-branded Hilton hotel is expected to begin construction soon in Kennesaw. The hotel will carry the Home2 Suites by Hilton & TRU by Hilton flags, and is to be built at 2700 and 2975 Ring Road.

The hotels, which were approved by the city of Kennsaw Cobb county last year, will share a single, four story building on the roughly 3.3 acre combined lot.  The property is located beside Town Center at Cobb mall, closest to JCPenney.

The most recent business to occupy space at 2975 was Masse Grill & Bar, which opened during the spring of 2014 and closed about two years later.  13 Stories Haunted House occupied the space before, too, but moved to Newnan in 2014.

The hotels are expected to open next spring.

I contacted Hiten Patel, Vice President of Development & Construction for Vision Hospitality, seeking comment on the planned hotels.  Despite both projects being active on the Vision website as "coming soon," Patel never returned my phone calls, and a Hilton representative claimed the hotels are not yet "official."

At its launch last year by McLean, Virginia-based Hilton Worldwide, Tru was described as being unlike any other hotel brand.

"Pairing a stringent focus on operational efficiency with thoughtful innovation, Tru by Hilton is more than just a place to sleep, it's a true travel experience designed to deliver a strong value proposition for owners and guests. The brand will appeal to a broad range of travelers who span generations but think alike; they are united by a millennial mindset - a youthful energy, a zest for life and a desire for human connection. No brand is meeting their needs in their price point today."

Home2 Suites by Hilton is a mid-scale, all suite, extended stay hotel, launched by Hilton in 2009.  As I first reported in 2013, metro Atlanta's first Home2 Suites property opened in "The Walton" in downtown Atlanta.

Chattanooga based Vision Hospitality will own and manage the dual branded 170 room hotel with plans to begin construction in the coming weeks.

A little less than two miles away on Busbee Drive, Commonwealth Hotels, LLC  is nearing completion of a new Hampton Inn.  The Covington, Kentucky-based hotel operator plans to open the new 100 room, Hampton Inn Atlanta Kennesaw on July 8th.

All three hotels are brands in the Hilton Hotels Worldwide portfolio.

Vision Hospitality operates/has under construction nearly 50 hotels throughout Tennessee, New Jersey, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Georgia.  The company, which is most heavily concentrated in Tennessee, operates or has under construction seven Hilton owned brands, including two new and upcoming properties in metro Atlanta.

Last month, Vision opened a new 98 room Tru hotel in McDonough, one of the first for the brand worldwide, and the first in Georgia.  Later this month, Vision is expected to break ground on a new 132 room Hampton Inn & Suites on Clairemont Avenue in Decatur, adjacent to the existing Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

As I reported last month, another Tru hotel is planned for Lawrenceville near Sugarloaf Mills.

In addition to these new, "ground up" hotels, renovations are expected to be completed next month on the new DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody in Brookhaven.  The hotel, as I reported last year, represents the reflagging of Holiday Inn Atlanta-Perimeter/Dunwoody.

Well placed industry sources indicate Hilton also plans to bring their upscale Conrad hotel brand to Buckhead soon.  The Conrad, which would replace the existing The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, would immediately give the brand a metro presence but would also likely require tremendous capital expenditure to renovate the circa 1980s hotel.  Official confirmation of this is expected in the coming weeks.

What is your favorite hotel brand?  Have you visited a Tru hotel?  What hotel brand would you like to see added to the metro Atlanta market?

Please share your thoughts below.

Why would the City of Kennesaw need to approve, the land is not within city limits

Good catch! You are right, my mistake. I had Kennesaw on the mind when I wrote this up. It has been corrected.

Extended Stay = future taxpayer funded homeless housing

And where are the homeless in Kennesaw exactly, Mr. Anon?

Extended stay hotels erode quickly and the Hilton branding will eventually be removed. Search extended stay hotels and key words like: Transient, Homeless, Crime, Drugs, Prostitution, Sex Offender Registry, Section 8, etc
