Bonus Bits & Bites

Metro Atlanta's second Blaze Pizza is expected to open  December 2 at Akers Mill Square near Cumberland Mall.  The quick serve pizza eatery replaced Atlanta-based Uncle Maddio's Pizza in the endcap space in the popular center.  The first Atlanta area Blaze opened this past September near Emory University in Emory Commons shopping center at the corner of Clairmont and North Decatur Roads.  A third Blaze Pizza is slated to open next year in Fuqua Development's new Northside Drive & 17th Street project behind IKEA.  Sources indicate the local franchise group is actively seeking additional Atlanta area locations but not additional leases have been signed.

Hoyle's Kitchen + Bar officially opened this past Monday, November 13.  The new restaurant and bar, which replaced what was most recently known as 120 Tavern & Music Hall, is located on Roswell Road in Marietta, not far from the Big Chicken.

Buckhead's Cathedral of St. Philip will host its weekly Farmers Market this coming Saturday and will feature a special pop-up, too.  The church's "Thrift House" which operates a thrift store year round on Piedmont Road near Cheshire Bridge Road, will have a "pop-up" "Holiday & Hosting" table for customers at the Farmers Market. The market runs 9AM-12:30PM.  Could "pop-up" or seasonal thrift stores become a thing?

Ford Fry’s Tex-Mex spot, The El Felix, is expected to open Monday November 20 at The Battery Atlanta at SunTrust Park.  This marks the second location of The Felix, the first of which opened at Alpharetta's Avalon during fall 2014.   The restaurant, like nearby Chuy's in nearby Akers Mill Square, features a built-in taco truck which will serve on-the-go snacks like nachos, tamales, chicken tacos, and margaritas.

Cinco Mexican Cantina, which announced plans earlier this year to open a new restaurant in Dunwoody's Perimeter Mall, has delayed its opening.  The restaurant, which will open in place of the former Chico's retail space on the front of the mall, has reportedly had some permitting setbacks with DeKalb County, and as such, has pushed its opening from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018.  When it opens, it will mark the Atlanta based chain's fourth location joining existing restaurants near Cumberland Mall, Suwanee and Cumming.

The Georgia Dome is due to be demolished Monday Monday November 20 at 7:30AM.  The demolition is expected to last a mere nine seconds.  4,800 pounds of explosives will be used to bring down the popular sports venue that between 1992-2017 hosted over 39 million fans at over 1,400 events.

Perimeter Mall is not in Dunwoody proper. It is in unincorporated DeKalb County, and has an Atlanta address.

Does anyone know how The Battery businesses are doing? Doesn't seem to be much retail news surrounding that project.

Perimeter Mall is not in the city of Dunwoody. It is in unicorporated Atlanta in DeKalb County.
