[UPDATE] "Southern Inspired" Eatery Coming to Vacant Brookhaven Space

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group yesterday leased the short-lived Fiorello's Italian Bistro in Brookhaven. Fiorello's opened late this past March, in place of Brookhaven Provisons, but basically "failed to launch," closing about 50 days later, in mid May.
The new owners, Glenda and Jose Mata, plan to open an "upscale Southern inspired American restaurant & bar" in the roughly 3,500 square foot space. The leasing flyer from The Shumacher Group indicates that the restaurant provides seating for over 100 guests with a bar that seats seven and an outdoor patio capable of seating 50.

Brookleigh Marketplace, the center in which the restaurant is located, is in anchored by Marlow's Tavern and Pure Taqueria and is also home to Primrose Schools, BURN Cycle / Kick / Yoga, and Bon Glaze, a gourmet doughnut shop, among other tenants.

The Matas already own two restaurants, Tara Humata Mexican Grill and Secreto Kitchen & Bar, both located in the same center at 6195 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta.

Are you excited for the addition of a new dining option to the area?  Have you dined at either Tara Humata Mexican Grill or Secreto Kitchen & Bar?  What type of restaurant would you most like to see open in Brookhaven?

I wish them luck, its a good location. They will have competition from the Alden at Parkview which is similar concept I think but theres plenty of room for dining in the exploding Chamblee and Brookhaven areas.

They will do good!. I know their restaurants in the Alpharetta - Duluth area and Jose and Glenda have managed to build good concepts.

Way to go guys, what a coincidence I live right across from it.

It's unfortunate the developers did not move the front doors of these retail buildings closer to the street and or better integrate them in to the apartments. The Pure has a better placement and more character. The developer failed on this one. If the patio is on that side area and they make that space interesting it could help

Saw they put up signage for Secreto when I was in the shopping center last night.
