Bits & Bites

Amore Cucina & Bar plans to "soft open" for dinner Saturday March 31, with plans to be completely up and running by Monday April 2.  The full-service pizza-centric restaurant is opening in TOWN Brookhaven in place of what was most recently a PizzaFire franchise.  The Brookhaven Amore is meant to be a sister location to the restaurant's original location in Stamford, CT.  Amore is owned by "six-time World Pizza Champion/Restaurateur/Television Personality Bruno DiFabio."

Thai Spice closed its location at The Avenue Peachtree City in business.  Thai Spice continues to operate its other location at The Forum on Peachtree Parkway in Norcross.

Panda Express plans to open a new freestanding restaurant in an outparcel of Gainesville Towne Center in Gainesville.  The approximately 2,200 square foot restaurant will be constructed along Pearl Nix Parkway, just in from its intersection with Browns Bridge Road.  Construction of a long delayed Golden Corral restaurant which we first announced in 2016 is expected to start soon in the same center, but it is literally at the corner of Pearl Nix and Browns Bridge.

A new gym called The Refinery is coming to 2260 Marietta Boulevard later this year.  The gym is located in a building adjacent to where Henri's Bakery opened their third location last year.  City of Atlanta permits indicate that the gym will be 11,400 square feet.

The U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer in north Buckhead has closed.  The business, located in the same center as Batteries+Bulbs and Subway at the corner of  Wieuca and Roswell Roads, closed a few days ago and its former space is now available for lease.

The former Gallery 63 auction house on Windsor Parkway in Sandy Springs will reopen next month as Puppy Haven, offering dog boarding, daycare, grooming and retail products.  The first Puppy Haven opened on Caldwell Road in Brookhaven, followed by a second location on Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell in 2015.  The Brookhaven location is 5,000 square feet, Roswell is 12,000 and the new Chastain Park location is reportedly about 11,000.

Brooklyn Water Bagel has closed its lone Atlanta area location at Akers Mill Square near Blaze Pizza.  The bagel eatery, which first opened in 2012, closed earlier this month, after which it  reopened as 101 Bagel Cafe.  The new restaurant is reportedly owned by the same owner as the previous iteration, and features the same menu.  A number of readers see the move as a way to maintain the business, while eliminating the franchise and its related fees.  A number of former Atlanta-area Mellow Mushroom restaurants have made similar maneuvers.
