[UPDATE] The Marietta Local to Open in Place of Mountain Biscuits in Kennesaw

Sources tell ToNeTo Atlanta that Marietta's The Marietta Local will be opening in place of Kennesaw's Mountain Biscuits.  As we reported earlier today, Mountain Biscuits is relocating to Dallas later this summer.  Mountain Biscuits owner Deborah Ingram tell us that the current location has "just grown so big and so busy" and that she had no time for her grandchildren or her horse rescue.  The new location should provide her more family time.
The Marietta Local owner Jim Tidwell opened the original Marietta Local on Marietta Square in 2014.  In the years since, the restaurant, which like Mountain Biscuits is open for breakfast & lunch, has won "The Big Chicken" Award four years in a row at the Taste of Marietta for "The Best Fried Chicken."

While an exact opening date was not yet available, a source close to both restaurants indicated the plan is to have The Marietta Local open soon after Mountain Biscuits vacates their existing location.

To be clear, the Kennesaw site is expected to be a second location for The Local Marietta and not a relocation.

Are you excited for the opening of The Marietta Local in Kennesaw?  Will you travel to Dallas for Mountain Biscuits?  What type of restaurant would you most like to see open in Kennesaw?

Please share your thoughts below.

UPDATE: Jim Tidwell will open a new concept, Basecamp at Kennesaw Mountain, not a second The Marietta Local, in place of Mountain Biscuits.  The restaurant will still serve biscuits but will also have "gourmet" pancakes and a juice bar.

I'll give The Marietta Local a try, but disappointed that Mountain Biscuits is moving; it's an authentic gem. It's easy to visit from I-75 on my infrequent trips north of the city, but not sure when I'll make it over to Dallas. I wish them all the best in the new location and I'm sure one day my craving for a big 'ol biscuit will lead me there.
