[EXCLUSIVE] Del Taco Opening in Former Roswell Bank and Burger Spot

Del Taco, which yesterday added "Fresh Mexican Grill" to its branding, is planning a new location in Roswell.  The "new" restaurant will actually make use of an old bank branch that had more recently operated as The Counter, a "better burger" concept.  The Counter closed this past January after nearly ten years in business.  Del Taco intends to convert the building to their needs with plans to uncover the drive-thru lost in the conversion from banking to burgers.

The existing 2,850 square foot building, originally constructed as a SouthTrust Bank in 1990, will be reconfigured to allow for the quick serve Mexican restaurant to open.  The building sits on about three quarters of an acre in an outparcel of Mansell Oaks Plaza and will supply parking for 24 vehicles.  The property sits at 850 Mansell Road, just in the from its intersection with Alpharetta Highway and just under three miles from North Point Mall.

Del Taco serves a rather diverse memo of tacos, of course, but also burritos, nachos, quesadillas, salads, burgers, fries, shakes, churros, cookies, coffee and more.

The Lake Forest, California-based chain, now on its third iteration in metro Atlanta, currently has nine locations in the greater metro Atlanta area with at least one more in the pipeline for Douglasville.  The chain has done especially well in Cobb County where it operates five of its current nine locations in Kennesaw (2), Marietta and Smyrna (2).

In recent months, Del Taco has signed multiple multi-unit franchise agreements for continued development both in the greater metro Atlanta area as well as the southeast in general.  In April, the company announced that it had signed a development deal with franchise veteran Mac Kamara,of MK Energy, LLC, to develop seven locations across the "south central Atlanta" area.

Are you excited for the opening of Del Taco in Roswell?  Where would you like to see Del Taco open next?  What is your favorite quick-serve Mexican restaurant?

Why does every fast food place need a drive through? Are people that lazy that they can't get out of a car and sit at a table to eat? I'm personaly repulsed seeing people driving around trying to steer with their knees while they shove food down their gullet. Let alone the slobs who throw the wrappers, cups, etc out the car window when their done stuffing their disgusting faces with empty calories.

Have to say, you're fighting an uphill battle. Don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, but this is America in 2018.

Roswell doesn't concern me but I'm excited for the locations in central south Atlanta, especially since we have zero Taco Bells

I have similar sentiments towards lazy people and slobs. Some people use the drive up if they have a car full of children, elderly, or pets. That makes good sense. And some people do not have sufficient social skills to conduct themselves civilly, so they are doing all of us a favor by staying in their car.
