[EXCLUSIVE] Le Colonial to Open in The Shops Buckhead Atlanta in 2019

Upscale French Vietnamese restaurant Le Colonial plans to open in Atlanta soon.  Multiple sources confirm to ToNeTo Atlanta that Le Colonial plans to open in the former Dolce in The Shops Buckhead Atlanta in Buckhead.  Dolce, part of New York based LDV Hospitality, closed their second floor restaurant in the Buckhead development this past December after a little over two years in business.

Le Colonial, which got its start in Manhattan in 1993, now has outposts in Chicago, San Francisco and most recently, Houston, which opened in August 2016 in the posh River Oaks District.  The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, like River Oaks District, were developed and are currently owned by San Diego-based developer OliverMcMillan.

"Le Colonial is a celebration of the seductive spirit and vivid flavors of 1920's French Colonial Southeast Asia."
Restaurateur Rick Wahlstedt, co-owner of upscale French Le Bilboquet at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, is also the co-owner of Le Colonial.  Given Le Bilboquet is widely regarded as the most successful restaurant in the project, it's no surprise that Wahlstedt would be interested in bringing a second concept to town.
Although there is no restaurant similar to Le Colonial in Buckhead, there is a similar restaurant in Atlanta. In 2015, Chef Guy Wong, restaurateur Mike Blum, and other partners opened Le Fat on Marietta Street on Atlanta's Westside.  Like Le Colonial, Le Fat is an upscale Vietnamese restaurant that draws from Vietnam's French colonial influences.

Sources indicate that Le Colonial's owners plan to significantly renovate the Dolce space and that it is currently slated to open early next year.

so contrary to what this blog so often makes readers believe, S@BA is doing just fine

S@BA is not doing just fine. If you think that is the case you are woefully ignorant of what is going on there.

Shops BA is too high dollar to serve the kool-aid you are drinking. There are LOTS of other resources AND people that don't believe in the profitability / longevity of Shops BA. Here is just one of many examples:

I don't think many people consider the S@BA a success.
