[EXCLUSIVE] Brack's Kitchen to Take Root in Chastain Park This Winter

Restaurateur Braxton "Brack" Rowe is planning to launch his own concept, Brack's Kitchen, near Chastain Park in December.  The restaurant, which Rowe describes as healthy fast casual, will be located in a 2,573 square foot space in Buckhead Court shopping center, where Ford Fry's Superica, home store Huff Harrington, and juice joint dtox, among others, are currently located.

Rowe, who is from Athens but now lives in Chastain Park, previously franchised multiple Moe's Southwest Grill locations in Georgia as well as a number of Newk's Eatery locations in South Carolina.  Rowe sold his Moe's earlier this year although he still owns a few Newk's.  The new concept, as the name suggests, is all his, well, mostly.  Rowe's college roommate, Jon Warrington, is a partner in the business.

The primary focus of the menu at Brack's will be on grain bowls and salads, some of which will be "signature," others of which guests can create themselves. The menu is not unlike the offerings of Upbeet on the Westside and Wildleaf in Buckhead at Terminus.  There are also some menu similarities to the recently opened and already hugely popular Flower Child at The Shops Around Lenox adjacent to Lenox Square.

Chopt, another similar concept, is opening in nearby Tuxedo Festival, but while the parking situation is not perfect at Buckhead Court, it is most definitely worse at Tuxedo Festival, even with once popular burger joint FLIP Burger Boutique empty.

Among the signature offerings at Brack's Kitchen are:

Chicken & Dumplings, a warm bowl that will feature marinated grilled chicken, balsamic roasted Brussels sprouts, black-eyed pea falafel, chili charred cauliflower, brown rice, marinated tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro lemon vinaigrette & Parmesan cheese.

Another offering is The A1A, a salad that will feature marinated grilled shrimp, local lettuce mix, red onion, cucumber, citrus marinated avocado, marinated tomatoes, and cilantro lemon vinaigrette

Rowe spoke of his upbringing in Athens and his father's work ethic and community involvement in the family's Chevrolet dealership as helping to shape his hospitality mentality and service culture that he brought to his other restaurants and that he plans to bring to Brack's Kitchen.

In addition to his plans to be heavily involved in the community, Rowe indicated that he has plans to minimize food waste by donating excess food, when possible, to those in need.

Rowe is not the first local former franchisee to flip the script and start their own concept.  Yogi Patel previously franchised both Uncle Maddio's Pizza and Tin Drum Asian Kitchen before launching his own concept, Bezoria, in 2014.  Today, Bezoria has locations in Midtown, Alpharetta, and its newest at Cumberland Mall in Smyrna.  Patel has plans for additional locations in the greater metro Atlanta area as well as surrounding states in the coming months.

Following what Rowe anticipates being a successful launch of Brack's Kitchen, he plans to open a handful of additional locations in metro Atlanta after which he may look at expanding in markets like Nashville and Charleston, among others.

Are you excited for the addition of a new healthy offering in Chastain Park?  Where is your favorite place for healthy food in metro Atlanta?  Where should the next Brack's Kitchen open?
