Bank OZK, formerly Bank of the Ozarks, is inching closer to a long delayed branch in Buckhead on Peachtree Road.  Atlanta-based Community and Southern Bank (CSB) purchased the onetime Kudzu Cafe turned Boi Na Braza turned Chima property in 2012 to open a new branch.  The property is located at the corner of Peachtree Road and East Shadowlawn Avenue, between Trader Joe's and the new ALDI.  Little Rock, Arkansas-based Bank OZK completed their purchase of CSB in July 2016.  After making its way through the planning and zoning departments, a permit for demolition was filed with the City of Atlanta on October 16.  The new one story 4,730 square foot bank branch should open in spring 2019.  When first proposed, the bank was to be two stories, with retail banking on the first floor and bank offices on the second floor.  Bank OZK operates a number of Atlanta area branches, including another onetime CSB branch adjacent to the Publix in TOWN Brookhaven.

A La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel is being proposed for Chamblee on the site of the former Bombay Grill, a large sit down Indian restaurant that burned down in 2015.  The six story 110 room hotel would rise at 2165 Savoy Drive, a 1.64 acre parcel parallel to I-285, according to plans submitted to the City of Chamblee.  Ashish Patel of Opal Hospitality Management LLC owns the property.  The $12.5 million project is expected to be heard by Chamblee’s City Council November 20.

La Quinta, a limited service brand from San Antonio-based Wyndham Worldwide, already has a number of properties in metro Atlanta including the recently renovated hotel at 2535 Chantilly Drive, just off Cheshire Bridge Road, alongside I-85.  The hotel, which is located just outside of both Brookhaven and Buckhead, is referred to on the property's website as the La Quinta Inn & Suites Atlanta Midtown – Buckhead.

After about five years in business, Zeal in East Cobb has closed, to be replaced by Mexican restaurant Los Bravos.  Zeal owner Scott Sawant reportedly got an offer to sell the business and took it.  Sawant told East Cobb News that a failing health inspection earlier this year was a factor in his decision [to sell].  Los Bravos plans to open January 2019.

Cupanion's Kitchen + Coffee is now open at Fountain Oaks shopping center in Sandy Springs.  The locally owned eatery replaced local restaurant Cafe Posh which closed to open instead in Hanover Buckhead Village, a new luxury high-rise apartment building adjacent to the Buckhead Theater in Buckhead.   After a number of delays, Cafe Posh is expected to open in November.

Thumbs Up Diner closed its longstanding restaurant at 174 West Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur Sunday after about ten years in business.  The restaurant announced its closure on their Instagram page and cited rent as factor in their decision to close and urged patrons to "use their voices to protest the rising rents in the area."  Thumbs Up continues to operate five other locations in Douglasville, East Point, Downtown, Roswell and on Edgewood Avenue not far from Krog Street Market.

banks of the Ozarks site on Peachtree is a ground lease. Did a long term ground lease with C& S years ago and then they were bought. They do not own the land.
