[EXCLUSIVE] Flying Biscuit Cafe to Land in Toco Hills in 2019

A new Flying Biscuit Cafe is slated to open at Toco Hills shopping center next year.  The restaurant, which will occupy a 2,920 square foot space, will, like its recently opened neighbor Chopt Creative Salad Co., take a portion of the former Petite Auberge restaurant.

The Atlanta-based breakfast joint came from humble beginnings in nearby Candler Park.  Chef Delia Champion opened the Flying Biscuit Cafe on McLendon Avenue at Clifton Road, not far from Emory University, in 1993. It was not until Halloween 2000 that Champion opened her second location at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and 10th Street in Midtown.

In 2006, Champion sold the business to a multi-unit franchise company then known as Raving Brands.  The concept was later expanded via franchising to include not only additional Atlanta area locations in such locations as Buckhead, Roswell and Sandy Springs, but also out of state outposts in North Carolina, Texas and Florida.

Today there are twelve Flying Biscuits open in Georgia including the recently opened restaurant on Ernest Barrett Parkway at Kennesaw Marketplace in Kennesaw.

The company operates another five locations out of state with four more "coming soon" to such communities as Downtown West-End in Greenville, South Carolina and Dallas, Texas.

The opening of the Flying Biscuit Cafe will mark the return of a second breakfast option at Toco Hills following the May closure of Bagel Palace after 25 years in business.  Popular Atlanta bagel chain Goldberg's Bagel & Deli opened a restaurant in a portion of the old Toco Hills cinemas on the Publix end of the center in 2010.

Toco Hills has in recent months welcomed a host of new tenants, especially restaurants, including the aforementioned Chopt, The Local Pizzaiolo, Spiller Park Coffee and Fish Bowl Poke.  New locations of PaoPao Ramen and Ice Cream as well as Kale Me Crazy, are expected to open at Toco Hills in the coming months.  Hudson Grille, which was to open in the former Famous Pub, has since abandoned those plans.

Are you excited for the addition of the Flying Biscuit to Toco Hills?  What is your favorite breakfast place in metro Atlanta?  Do you think Flying Biscuit is as good today as it was originally?

Basic people like basic food. Glad to see another breakfast option, but I haven't had one meal from Flying Biscuit that I remembered the next day.

I miss Bagel Palace so very much... no chain can compare. Since it closed, I rarely even go to Toco anymore.

So overrated!

Who will the owners be at this location? I really hope that they are not Joseph or Matthew Hsiao. http://www.projectq.us/atlanta/Flying_Biscuit_owner_faces_backlash_for_supporting_Brian_Kemp

Flying Biscuit is garbage. I'm much more concerned about if Duck Donuts is coming to Toco Hills or not.

Wow. Surprised at these comments. I'm excited about Flying Biscuit coming. Try the eggs over blackbean cakes.

Are all the Flying Biscuits corporate or is Candler Park still owned by someone else? I've always liked the original location and it doesn't feel sanitized, but the others are nothing special. That said, its still better than the limited breakfast options in the area and I could eat their grits by the quart.
