[OPENING ALERT] Sweetwaters Bringing Coffee Back to TOWN Brookhaven

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is coming soon to TOWN Brookhaven.  No, SweetWater Brewing Company is not getting into the coffee business, instead, a franchise from Michigan will open its first location in the Peach State.  The new Sweetwaters will open alongside Marble Slab Creamery and Flying Biscuit Cafe in a portion of the space previously home to Copper Coin, a cafe, coffee, beer and wine bar.
An existing Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea in Michigan
Copper Coin abruptly closed last March after first opening in 2015.  The space was previously home to Baci by Cafe at Pharr.  Although the two predecessor concepts occupied suites 510 and 510 - a combined 3,189 square feet - Sweetwaters will only occupy suite 510, a 1,822 square foot space.

Husband and wife owners Wei and Lisa Bee opened the first Sweetwaters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, not far from the University of Michigan, in 1993.  The couple slowly grew the concept themselves to a handful of locations in Michigan before starting to franchise in 2015.  Today there are nine Sweetwaters open and another five coming soon, including the one destined for Atlanta.  In total, when all publicly known locations open, the company will have units in five states.

According to the Sweetwaters website, the beverage menu is likely to include assorted coffees and teas as well as frozen drinks [Ice Dragons], Italian soda, hot chocolate and lemonade, among other offerings.  The food menu is likely to consist of assorted pastries and cookies as well as yogurt parfait, quiche, sandwiches and salads.

A permit was issued in September and work has begun, but based on the progress, it's likely that the shop will not open until sometime next year.

In recent months, a number of new eateries have opened at TOWN Brookhaven including Red Pepper Taqueria, Amore Cucina & Bar and Tanaka Ramen.

The center, which seems plagued by frequent turnover, especially among restaurants,  still has the former Olive Bistro vacant and available, while the existing Which Wich was recently sold and is under new management.  Local sources indicate that Tin Can Oyster Bar and Amore are both struggling.

Are you excited for the return of a coffee shop to TOWN Brookhaven?  What is your favorite eatery [besides the food court and samples at Costco] in TOWN Brookhaven?  What is your favorite coffee shop in metro Atlanta?

Please share your thoughts below.

Newks is the eatery I go to the most in Town Brookhaven. As for coffee normally go to Starbucks because there are a lot of them around. I don't always go to Town Brookhaven because thr parking is a hassle at times.

The Amore restaurant and Tin Can have a great location in the center, great ambiance and both places have delicious food. I think the both need more attention.

Someone needs to tell the owners about Starbucks. I wish them well but they have no chance.

@ 11:27 am - I don't know about that. There are two Starbucks near there, about 2 miles in either direction. The Dunkin is actually just a tab bit closer than either of those. However, if you want a nice cup of Joe and live or work right there, this will be a great option other than dropping into The Flying Biscuit for a quick coffee. Hope it works out.

@ 2:22 , you are right, it will be good for the tenants in that building. I hope it works out too, just not sure there is enough traffic.
