[EXCLUSIVE] Duluth Trading Company to Open First Georgia Store in Kennesaw

Outdoor and workwear apparel retailer Duluth Trading Company is bringing its first metro Atlanta location to Kennesaw later this year.  The approximately 20,000 square foot store will open beside Aldi in Barrett Place shopping center, on Cobb Place Boulevard just off Barrett ParkwayAldi opened in the center at the end of 2017 and occupies about half of a onetime Sports Authority, but had leased the entire space.  The grocer had been marketing the remaining space for sublease.

Based in Belleville, Wisconsin, Duluth Trading Company was established in 1989 and for the two decades of its existence, functioned primarily as a catalog and ecommerce business.  The company opened their first retail store in late 2010 in the Madison, Wisconsin suburb of Mount Horeb.  By the end of 2019, Duluth Trading Company will operate about 50 locations with plans to open another 15 annually until it reaches 100.

The publicly traded company (NASDAQ: DLTH) last week announced fourth quarter and fiscal 2018 financial results, noting among other things their 36th consecutive quarter of increased net sales year-over-year.  In addition to to the Kennesaw store, the company plans to open at least twelve stores in fiscal 2019 including locations in both Madison and Hoover, Alabama.

Permits filed with Cobb County indicate the company plans to spend at least $580,000 building out their 18,477 square foot space.  Duluth Trading Company's release indicates the store will actually be 19,685 square feet. Either way, the store will be the largest of the twelve stores the company has announced this year, and will be one of the top five largest the company has opened over the past two years.

In Brixmor-owned Barrett Place, Duluth Trading Company joins the aforementioned Aldi as well as Best Buy, Office Max, Petsmart, Michaels and The Furniture Mall as anchors of the shopping center.

Across Barrett Parkway from the shopping center, outdoor apparel and accessories retailer Field & Stream opened in 2017 in place of the former JCPenney Home Store in Town Center Commons.  There, the 42,728 square foot Field & Stream was paired with its larger corporate parent, Dick's Sporting Goods, which occupies an 80,000 square foot space.

Duluth Trading Company projects their Kennesaw store to open during fiscal Q2 of 2019.

It seems wrong somehow that their first Georgia store is Cobb County. By rights it should be in Gwinnett, just west of Lawrenceville.

@ 3:07 LOL ... Unfortunately, (Duluth, Gwinnett, GA) is not their target demographic. At least (Duluth Trading Co) did their due diligence!

Stuff is well made and wears like iron, especially the canvas fire hose stuff. And not particularly cheap up front. Not so much Wal-Mart redneck as a general contractor or experienced tradesman.

I see the liberals, Millennials, ITP'ers, hipsters, and other assorted Snowflakes are losing their mind over a store that caters to the White working class.

So excited to finally have a local store and not having to wait on the online orders only.

Glad to see them coming to local area. I have several pieces of their clothing. It wears great & doesn't wear out.

Super Happy to see my favorite clothing and accessory company coming to Metro Atlanta! They already have over 50 stores across the country! I was planning on making a Road Trip to one of their stores; now I only have to go to Kennesaw, GA! Duluth Trading Company has the best products ... period: clothes, apothecary, toys, games, everything... And they have a great "No BS Guarantee". So yes, if their prices are a little higher than the cheap clothing you have been used to buying (and quickly wearing out) try a pair of their trademark "Fire Hose Pants"; you will be hooked. I still have (and wear) my first pair (c1995)of Fire Hose Pants! I actually have about 15 pair of long pants, 20 pair of shorts, 30 pair of "Buck Naked" Underwear, and many other products. When my family wants to know what I need for Christmas, Father's Day, etc... I give them my most recent, dog-eared, marked up Duluth Trading Catalog! and tell them to "just get me anything from these guys".
Furthermore, Why are people posting such negativity? Duluth Trading has nothing to do with Duluth GA; and even if it did, why do you think Duluth GA is "redneck"? You small-minded, snobbish, uneducated name-callers who like to put down others are actually showing others across the nation what you are really like.

Started buying their products 4 years ago and won't ever buy anything else for work clothes. I'll happily make the 65 mile drive to shop in an actual store.

Overly expensive for the quality and the customer service online is horrific. They try and sell you on a "image" rather than value. The value is simply lacking in their products. Nice looking stores, but I don't want to pay for store furnishings.
