[UPDATE] Permits Filed For Tom Ford at Phipps Plaza

Tom Ford has officially filed for permits with the City of Atlanta to begin buildout of its new store at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.  ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively broke news of the retailer's planned opening at Phipps Plaza January 16.  The luxury fashion retailer is currently located in The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, but will close there to relocate to Phipps Plaza.  The Tom Ford store at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta opened in February 2016.

Despite earlier indications that the Tom Ford store at Phipps Plaza would be larger than their current Buckhead outpost, permits suggest that the new store will be slightly smaller, instead.  Whereas the current Tom Ford store is about 5,000 square feet, and the new store was expected to be about 8,000 square feet [assuming the former Valentino and former Giorgio Armani], permits suggest that the new store will instead be 4,500 square feet, taking only a portion of the two aforementioned spaces.  

The permits, filed last week, suggest that at least $1 million will be spent to build out the new store. $1.5 million was spent building out the Tom Ford store at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta.  

Sales associates at Tom Ford's current store have acknowledged the relocation, as have other employees of other luxury stores in both The Shops Buckhead Atlanta and Phipps Plaza.  That said, no official announcement has come from either The Shops Buckhead Atlanta or Phipps Plaza regarding the closure and opening or a timetable.  

ToNeTo Atlanta reported March 17 that Ponce City Market owner Jamestown had purchased The Shops Buckhead Atlanta for between $175 and $200 million, but a month later,  no official confirmation/announcement has been made public.  

Despite Saint Laurent's recent opening at Phipps Plaza and subsequent marquee signage along Peachtree Road, there is still a slot open and likely waiting for Tom Ford's arrival at the mall.
