[TIME!] Hudson FC Misses the Mark in Brookhaven, Plans to Close

Hudson FC International Sports Pub, which parent company Metrotainment Cafes opened during the summer of 2017, riding a wave of interest in soccer following Atlanta United's debut earlier in the year, will close this coming Sunday, October 20.  The restaurant, located alongside fellow Metrotainment Cafes concepts Hudson Grille and Sugar Shack, is located at 4058 Peachtree Road in Brookhaven Station.

Hudson FC joins a growing list of eateries that have previously operated from their space.  Hudson FC replaced Pub 71, which itself replaced Meehan's, which replaced Mangia 101, which like Meehan's, was a restaurant from 101 Concepts.

The restaurant proudly proclaimed to be an "Official Pub Partner" of Atlanta United FC.  Sources close to the restaurant indicate, however, that despite the tremendous interest in soccer and seemingly active bar and restaurant scene in Brookhaven, the FC concept never performed to expectations and that the company has no plans to open a different concept in the space.

Hudson FC is the second restaurant that Metrotaiment Cafes will have closed in just the past ten months.  Late this past December, the group's popular Cowtippers Steaks & Spirits restaurant along Piedmont Avenue closed after 25 years in business.  The structure, once an Old Hickory House, was recently demolished to make way for a new Chase Bank.

Metrotainment Cafes in 2017 announced plans to open a Hudson Grille in the former Famous Pub at Toco Hills shopping center, but last summer cancelled those plans.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported this past July that Iron Age Korean Barbecue signed a lease to open instead.

Following the closure, Metrotainment Cafes will continue to operate several Atlanta area restaurants: Einstein's in Midtown, Sugar Shack in Brookhaven, Guaco Joe's in Vinings, Joe's on Juniper in Midtown and Hudson Grille locations in Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Downtown, Kennesaw, Midtown, Sandy Springs and Tucker.  The company also operates Epic Events, a catering and events facility, and Metrotainment Bakery, both on Logan Circle in northwest Atlanta.

What would you like to see open in place of Hudson FC in Brookhaven?  What is your favorite Metrotainment Cafes concept?  Are you surprised to see Hudson FC close?

Holy crap! I cannot believe this. I love the place. its always busy when I go and it gets jammed for ATL UTD games. I watch some EPL there and its mostly busy. Food is great and staff are too.
Really sad news. I used to watch all games at Fado but switched to Hudson FC.

Two sports bars next door to each other with enough business for
one only. Basic math says it wont work.

We still miss Pub 71.

Pub 71 had a long run but the owner was burned out by all the late nights and transitioned to something with better hours. The Irish pub concept seemed to work pretty well so maybe someone can give it another go.

Why not go back to the plastic paddy pub concept but keep showing the footy?
I think the issue is with the parent company, they seem to be in trouble.

It closed YEARS ago, and now sits empty. You'd think it would have been snatched up by now as it's surrounded by hotels without many other options.

I don't like metrotainment establishments. Too loud. Too crowded. I wish we had not lost Gorin's. Also would like to see true Southern home cooking.
