[UPDATE] Roc South Cuisine Opening "Soon" in Brookhaven

A new restaurant called Roc South Cuisine is coming soon to Brookhaven.  Renovations are currently wrapping up at 3009 Buford Highway to convert the existing, roughly 3,000 square foot building, into Roc.  ToNeTo Atlanta readers will recall that we first reported in 2017  that a different restaurant, HAUS Restaurant & Bar, would open at this address, but that restaurant never seemed to get off the ground.  That said, while former proprietor Tamara Young seems uninvolved in the new venture, Chef V. Harper, listed as the Executive Chef at HAUS, is also helming the kitchen at Roc South.
It's unclear what led to the name change or when the ownership change took place, but Chef V. Harper had been working at bqe restaurant & lounge on Edgewood Avenue ahead of Roc South, according to his Instagram page.  Carson Blackwell of Lilburn, listed as both organizer and registered agent, set up "Roc South Atl LLC" with the Georgia Secretary of State's office May 14.

The restaurant, via their oft updated Instagram page, has been saying they're opening "soon" since at least August.  On October 4th they were seeking job applicants to send in their resumes by October 9.  Subsequent posts have made no mention of an imminent opening.

Roc South is located on Buford Highway adjacent to where LIPS Atlanta, a drag dining establishment, opened in 2013.  Popular gentlemen's club Pink Pony, physically located on Corporate Boulevard, is basically right behind Roc.    Property records indicate that the building in which Roc is opening was built in 1977.  It's unclear what first occupied the building, but most recently it had operated as Marisqueria 7 Mares, a Mexican restaurant, and later, Title Credit Finance, a car title business.

The menu at Roc South is described as "New American Southern Fare," with features such as Moroccan lamb chops, smoked beef short rib empanadas, cast iron braised oxtails, fried chicken, lobster ravioli and seafood gumbo.  Chef V's Instagram page also indicates he plans to offer a $100 wagyu beef burger at the new restaurant.

Are you excited for the opening of Roc South Cuisine?  What is your favorite southern dish?  What type of restaurant would you most like to see open in Brookaven?

I would like to see Golden Corral come to Brookhaven/Chamblee.

No thanks on the Golden Corral. I’ll take Marietta Diner concept of Brookhaven Diner, or Dunwoody Diner.
