[NON-RENEWED?] Ippolito's Reportedly Not Offered New Lease for Longstanding Kennesaw Restaurant

Ippolito's Neighborhood Italian will close its Kennesaw location effective Wednesday, January 1. The restaurant, located in a nearly 5,000 square foot corner space in Town Center Plaza along Ernest Barrett Parkway, has been in business 18 years.  The center, anchored by Marshalls, TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, is also home to a freestanding Olive Garden restaurant.
The owners of the restaurant announced the abrupt closure via their Facebook page where they indicated the center's owners declined to offer them a new lease.

"We made many great friends and created many happy memories over the past 18 plus years. It’s hard to leave a location that we have invested so much of our time, but the shopping center has determined that it did not want to renew our lease and has asked us to leave. We hope to find a new location in the near future. You can always visit us at 8496 Main St. in Woodstock at Ipp’s Pastaria.

Thank you for making us a part of the Kennesaw community and loving Ippolito’s."

Sincerely, the Ippolito Family

The Ippolitio's space is not yet marked as "available" or even "coming available" on the site plan for Town Center Plaza and attempts to solicit comment from either JLL's Sheri Mann or Coleman Morris, who handle leasing of the center, were unsuccessful.

The closure of the Kennesaw Ippolito's comes less than ten months after the Ippolito's on Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners shuttered.  The Peachtree Corners location reopened earlier this year as a medical facility operated by Gwinnett Medical Center.

Toni and George Ippolito opened the first Ippolito’s in 1989 in Roswell, and later added several other locations around metro Atlanta.

Following the Kennesaw closure, there will be four Ippolito's still in operation in metro Atlanta: Alpharetta, Roswell, Sandy Springs and Suwanee. Additionally, the family operates a pair of Ipp's Pastaria & Bar locations in Roswell and Woodstock.

Are you surprised to see Ippolito's "non-renewed" in Kennesaw?  What is your favorite locally owned restaurant in Kennesaw?  What would you like to see open in place of Ippolito's in Kennesaw?

Please share your thoughts below.

I will not be surprised to see a mega development spring up in that center.

I'm shocked ... my dad always had Mondays off and me and my family would visit the restaurant often. Good times and good memories. Sad.

Ipps is a really good restaurant - I miss the Peachtree Corners location. But they need to do a much better job managing their leases. It's not just the "mean old landlords" as they would have you believe.

Olive Garden paid to get rid of them. Sad day in Kennesaw

I'd rather eat at Fazoli's than eat at Olive Garden!
