Wolf & Ritz Camera Begin Liquidation Sales

Ritz Camera ( known locally as Wolf Camera ) has begun liquidation sales.

The historic photography retailer has twice filed for bankruptcy and their most recent filing led to an overall liquidation as the company was unable to find a buyer and was instead sold to liquidators.

I wrote an extended piece on the history of photography retailers earlier in the week and delved into the reasons behind their unfortunate demise.

Liquidation sales at their Lenox Square store currently reflect discounts of 20-40% and a sales associate informed me that October 31st will their last day in business for the entire company.

According to the respective company websites, both Wolf and Ritz Camera.com will reopen November 1st under new management.

Are you sad to see Wolf and Ritz go?  Do you do all your camera shopping in store, but buying online?  Do you still frequent specialty photography stores like Showcase Photo & Video or Wings Camera?  Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.

  1. I think even at liquidation prices, what you'll find is still going to be 20% higher than what you can find online.

  2. I'm not sad at all. I tried to buy a camera at the Wolf on Paces Ferry. The manager was incredibly rude and didn't want to answer any questions. He suggested I look for information online. I did and then bought the camera online also.
