[OINK] Pig-N-Chik to Close Original Location

The original location of barbecue spot Pig-N-Chik BBQ is closing.  The restaurant, located at 4920 Roswell Road in Fountain Oaks Shopping Center in Sandy Springs, first opened in 2001.

The BBQ spot occupies a 1,875 square foot endcap space complete with an outdoor patio.

The restaurant announced the news to patrons in recent days at which time it indicated that the closure was due to their landlord not offering them a lease renewal.  The Kroger-anchored center was acquired last April by Ponce City Market owner Jamestown.  The German firm paid $48M for the 160,000 square foot center, or roughly $300 per square foot.

The restaurant is due to close at the end of dinner service on August 16.

Co-founders Jim Graddy and Bill Marrack went on to open two other locations: Clifton and Briarcliff Roads near Emory University (former Dusty's) and Peachtree Boulevard near Clairmont Road in Chamblee, both of which will remain open.

The trio of restaurants had in recent years been listed for sale by The Shumacher Group for $1M, but other listings suggest that the asking price had been reduced to just $399,000, but there seems to be no active listing.

Are you a fan of Pig-N-Chik?  Who in metro Atlanta do you think makes the best barbecue?  What would you like to see open in place of Pig-N-Chik?

  1. I like P&C. it's not the best by any means, but it's solid enough to satisfy a BBQ craving.

    1. I’ll take that bet - Jamestown is a first class operator and will upgrade the tenancy.

  13. Best BBQ in town. My wife nearly cried when I told her. What a bunch of A-holes Jamestown is! Yes, hopefully (wishing) that they can find another spot between Buckhead and Sandy Springs. To the hookah clown, this is serious business here, go take your hookah @$$ back downtown.

  16. So sorry to hear about this location closing. This restaurant is one of the few independent establishments left and has always been a great part of the community.

  17. So ridiculous when greedy landlords won’t work with a tenant that’s been there for decades and would rather let the space sit empty

  21. Wasn't there a Pig & Chick on Peachtree Rd in Brookhaven where the Walgreens and Piedmont Medical office is now?

  22. Keep driving past the one on Briarcliff but didn't realize it was a chain. It smells good at least. I am too broke to eat there.

    1. Just try and hold out until the fall then you should be able to enjoy it. I suspect that once president trump’s big beautiful bill is implemented it will be a windfall for most Americans and then you can afford to eat at pig n chiks

    2. Better go before then. The world will have ended before the fall.

  24. Yes, I'm pretty sure that was P&C in Brookhaven too. It was a walk-up/takeout only if I recall. Tucked back in the woods off Peachtree next to the old cemetery they dug up when the Piedmont offices were built....
