[EXCLUSIVE] Midtown Tapas Eatery Suddenly Shutters

Bulla Gastrobar has closed its doors in Midtown.   The Spanish-inspired restaurant (pronounced boo-yuh) was located at the corner of 11th Street and Crescent Avenue at 60 11th Street as part of the collective 12th & Midtown mixed-use development.

Sources close to the restaurant indicate that Bulla Midtown closed for good as of Monday, December 22.

The restaurant was owned by Florida-based Centurion Restaurant Group which brought the concept to Atlanta in September 2017.

The Midtown outpost had a stellar 4.9 stars on Google with more than 13,000 reviews.

The company could not immediately be reached for comment but another Bulla closed December 1 at SouthPark in Charlotte where the company cited "financial struggles" among the reasons for the closure.

We are grateful to have been part of Charlotte’s vibrant culinary community for the past seven year,” the company said in a statement. “This decision was difficult; this location is no longer financially viable, and the closure comes as we navigate challenging economic conditions that have significantly impacted its ability to operate,” the company said in a statement provided to Queen City News.

One could reasonably substitute "Atlanta" for "Charlotte" and imagine what a statement regarding the Midtown closure might look like.

Following the Atlanta and Charlotte closures, Bulla still operates eights locations including seven in Florida and one in Plano, Texas.

Are you surprised to see Bulla close its lone Atlanta area location?  What would you like to see open in place of Bulla in Midtown?  What is your favorite restaurant in Midtown Atlanta?

  4. Disappointing that they didn’t make it, that corner has been a tough spot to operate. But I’m sure it won’t be empty for too long. Maybe the next person will be more successful!

  7. It sounds like poor financial management behind the scenes, having nothing to do with the restaurant itself, its quality and customer experience - which were all great. Never seen Bulla empty, and have had my company host many events there. Will be missed.

  8. Place was incredible and I would routinely eat and order take out quite often! Ambiance was beautiful and the service was great as well! So sad and shocked when I drove past today and realized it was closed!
