The longstanding Dairy Queen "barn" at 410 North Avenue has permanently closed. First expected to be temporary, the late April closure of the quick-serve restaurant is now permanent, with the building now stripped of all Dairy Queen signage.

Dairy Queen (DQ) started in Joliet, Illinois in 1940, and is today based in Bloomington, Minnesota with more 4,000 locations across the country.
Metro Atlanta is still home to several DQs including those on Chamblee Tucker Road in Chamblee, Lawrenceville Highway near Decatur, East Trinity Place in Downtown Decatur, Cobb Parkway in Marietta, and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Norcross, among others.
That said, we are littered with former Dairy Queen properties, including some that have been converted into new businesses, while others have been demolished.
Former Dairy Queen properties around metro Atlanta include those on Wieuca Road in Buckhead, LaVista Road near Tucker, Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, Savoy Drive in Chamblee, Clairmont Road in Chamblee, Northside Parkway in Buckhead, Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard in Westview, South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, and Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody.
What would you like to see open in place of this now former Dairy Queen on North Avenue in Atlanta? What is your favorite quick serve burger chain? Who in Atlanta do you think makes the best milkshake?

I see the local "artists" have already desecrated the property. Not surprised businesses are closing down in the 'hood!
ReplyDeleteTo call that area “the hood” only means you haven’t been around there in awhile to see the change and that you're a bigot.
DeleteAny area subject to tagging can be classified as a "hood". Does not in anyway indicate that 7:53 is a bigot. More like 12:51 is prejudiced in the true definition of the term.
DeleteThis is the type of graffiti Midtown/Eastside shitlib dorks will tell you is "art" because they're hip urbanites, man. You normies just don't get it.
DeleteThat image sure looks like the 'hood to me.
DeleteNope, means they are a racist. Don’t try to make it anything else but that.
DeleteIt is NOT the HOOD! ... The correct description of the area is classic ghetto!
DeleteSeveral million dollar properties in the area, of which people like Alex and the rest of Alex's bigoted friends (imaginary and or real) couldn't afford. So I guess Alex and his buds live in the Atlanta slum suburbs?
DeleteJust because there are million dollar properties doesn’t mean this area isn’t hood. This area is full of airbnbs with a negative rep.
DeleteSeems like some people on here are disturbingly obsessed with me. I'm extremely flattered.
DeleteHave you not seen the RHWOA? It's absolutely the ghetto in the hood! Wanna be chic at the goodwill and driving my used leased Range Rover with the spare tire on. Gas money please 🙏
DeleteThat’s why you keep making your racist comments. If no one responded to you you’d stop. Because you crave the attention.
DeleteThere was also a DQ on Cheshire Bridge in the early 70's and one in Sandy Springs the became an outpost of Good Ole Days. And one on PIB just north of Ashford Dunwoody that became Old Brick Pit BBQ. While never a regular customer of DQ, I always found them to be refreshingly different, and always enjoyed it. I guess it won't be long before all of the original fast food joints are dead and buried, and all we are left with is chicken, chicken, chicken and more chicken. Sad.
ReplyDeleteThere was also a Sonny's barbeque on Cheshire Bridge. They served smoked meats with barbeque sauce adn vegetables and sandwiches. I like barbeque as a food.
DeleteThat would be a great spot for a chicken concept.
