Vernon.

I don't think this one will sit empty though as there are a ton of offices in this area so I think it will be busy with people grabbing a few things on their way in and out of work - plus the deli area during lunch.

That area is also pretty saturated with restaurants - at least chain restaurants that can afford the rents this new development will command. I'm not seeing a lot of mom and pop local places being able to go in there. Whether that's enough to help this publix do great, I don't know.

The pond dates all the way back to the early to mid 1980s, when it was created. Some love it; some say that it's actually a filthy algae pool full of goose poo. It was kind of scenic. But it looks like the restaurant era will be slowing down tremendously (since they're not allowed to use their space, and local leaders are not even encouraging people to eat out at restaurants). So I think the three restaurants were like dinosaurs becoming extinct and this type of thing was destined to happen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579719431387122896.post-33695220865889067892020-05-20T22:23:08.270-04:002020-05-20T22:23:08.270-04:00I may miss ducks, though I never saw many. I am truly happy to see less habitat for the traffic-obstructing, discordant-honking, slimy-poop-depositing, airplane-hazarding Canadian (go home!) geese. Good riddance and please don't reproduce. The pond looked nice but not that nice. I look forward to a Racetrac or QT on my short commute, if we ever go back to the office.Steve Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05194039247092465772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579719431387122896.post-74248576808168977952020-05-20T15:18:04.965-04:002020-05-20T15:18:04.965-04:00I'd expect that Publix to be a Greenwise Marke...I'd expect that Publix to be a Greenwise Market. A publix. There is already a Publix exactly 1.1 miles away at Hammond & Peachtree Dunwoody. There are no or few apartment dwellers nearby who will cater to this supermarket. This Publix will be deserted.
2. A bunch of chain fast-casual restaurants, the ones that have been named are of low quality. If the best restaurant you can name is "CHOPT", then you're not doing very well. I don't know anyone who will be going out of their way for any of these restaurants.

The Publix will be deserted, the Restaurants will be deserted.
