Highland Bakery Goes For Thirds, Opening in Buckhead

Intown's favorite bakery, Highland Bakery is branching out into Buckhead. A longtime mainstay on Highland Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward, a second Highland Bakery was opened at 1180 Peachtree earlier this year. Occupying space in the Atlanta Financial Center that most recently housed Starbucks Coffee, Highland Bakery Buckhead is scheduled to open in January. The area is home to national chains Corner Bakery with locations adjacent to Maggiano's across the street and in Lenox Square, as well as Panera Bread in Lenox Square, along with a Flying Biscuit Cafe in Terminus and Buckhead Life's Buckhead Bread and Corner Cafe down Piedmont, but I still believe the concept will perform well in Buckhead.

Once a fan of the Flying Biscuit, I longer care for it after the Raving Brands acquisition. In my opinion, Buckhead Bread / Corner Cafe are the worst of all the Buckhead Life concepts and least worth the money. A chain is a chain and there will always be those that patronize places like Panera and Corner Bakery but the local flavor of Highland Bakery will surely work to their advantage. The high concentration of hotels and offices, where from which patrons would presumably walk, should bode well for the limited parking the restaurant has.
