All of a Sudden Decatur is Flowing in FroYo

Froyolo will soon open on the Decatur Square. Similar to Swirlin' Twirlin' which opened last year on West Ponce, Froyolo is attempting to come ITP after launching OTP.  I've only been to
their Sugarloaf location which I think was their first but Froyolo also has locations in Dacula and Hamilton Mill. Swirlin' Swirlin' is based in Flowery Branch.

Undoubedly they, like many other "me too" frozen yogurt shops serve YoCream frozen yogurt.  YoCream was purchased in late 2010 and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Danone, the French dairy powerhouse.  YoCream remains based in Portland, Oregon and also supplies the likes of Yogli Mogli, Cowlicks and Menchie's.

My local favorite The Yogurt Tap, located across from the square on Church Street just completed a renovation that added increased toppings and  flavors.  I've not made it in yet but I'm told they added an additional machine that offers a sugar free flavor and a gluten free flavor.  Also, the Tap added more flavors and kept pricing the same at 39 cents per ounce.  Swirlin' Twirlin' adjusted their pricing when they opened in Decatur, offering yogurt at 39 cents, down from 43 which is what they charge in Flowery Branch.

Froyo charges 43 cents per ounce at its existing two locations but I was unable to confirm either what they intend to charge in Decatur or when they will open.  Their physical location is next door to Mac McGee at 545 North McDonough Street.
Personally I thought yogurt was waning in popularity as expansion and new store openings had slowed but apparently some entrepreneurs think there is room for more.  What do you think?  Is this too much of a good thing?  Is Decatur being ruined by mediocre chain yogurt offerings?  Where is your favorite froyo in Atlanta?  Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Too much Yogurt in too little space. Give it a year and it will be a pub.

The market will control what happens and what I predict is that many many many yogurt places will be closing after the summer. As long as Yogurtland sticks around, I'm happy!

Definitely too much froyo all over metro ATL. Along Windward in Alpharetta or just off of it, you have Menchie's, Brain Freeze, Yogli Mogli and Froyolo, which was until recently Tutti Frutti. Further down is a Yoforia, although I don't know if they are still open. Only one that I like that I consider "real" yogurt is Pinkberry.

There is also a Froyolo location on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta.

Kennesaw is becoming a glut of it, too. Yogli Mogli is opening in Town Center. But the best is Yogo Ono.

I guess it is pretty profitable to buy bags of premade milk/high fructose syrup liquid and dump it into a soft serve machine. Sounds yummy.

"Froyo is attempting to come ITP"

Uh, there's froyo all over the place ITP... how have you missed it? Numerous Yoforia locations ITP as well as Yogurberry, Yogurtland, Menchies, Jujubees, and Yogli Mogli who all have locations ITP.

That was a typo.

People have been saying yogurt shops will be closing every year for the last couple of years. It'll be interesting to see when that actually happens

Not too excited about a yogurt place, but to get rid of some of that horrid facade on the old bank makes me very happy!!
