Sur La Table Satisfies its Craving For Another Atlanta Area Store

Rendering of upcoming North Point Mall location of Sur La Table
Sur La Table is coming to North Point Mall.

Seattle, Washington-based Sur La Table will open its third Atlanta area location in North Point Mall.  The 5800 square foot store will feature the brand's full retail assortment in addition to offering cooking demonstrations and classes.  The store is slated to open next spring.

Sur La Table will be located at center court of  the mall's first level, near H&M.  Sur La Table will occupy space in what is now Gap.  Gap is relocating to the upcoming Avalon project.

If memory serves me, Sur La Table entered the Atlanta market in 2008 with a store at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody.  Perimeter, like North Point. is owned and managed by Chicago-based General Growth Properties (GGP).

Sur La Table added a second location to the market when it opened in place of a shuttered Williams- Sonoma at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.  The store, on the mall's first level, opened early last year and seems to be doing well.

Sur La Table carries far more gifts, accessories and small goods than Williams-Sonoma.  Williams-Sonoma caters to hard core cooks and chefs, with an emphasis on the latest cookware, flatware and glass.

San Francisco, California-based Williams-Sonoma has four Atlanta area locations in Lenox Square, The Avenue East Cobb, The Forum on Peachtree Parkway and North Point Mall.

Williams-Sonoma has previously closed locations in Gwinnett Place Mall, Perimeter Mall and Phipps Plaza.

Atlanta-based The Cook's Warehouse also has four area locations in East Cobb, Decatur, Ansley Mall (Midtown) and Brookhaven.  The flagship Ansley location features a cooking studio and classes similar to those offered as Sur La Table but with many more classes offered and with an emphasis on local chefs.

Having recently purchased my first home, I find myself gravitating to home departments and kitchen stores more and more. On a recent trip to Sur La Table, I discovered the Lily Pad Lid by Charles Viancin, an item seemingly perfect for just about any dish but available in the Atlanta area, thus far it seems, only at Sur La Table and The Cook's Warehouse.  According to management at both stores, the lids sellout regularly and have been one of the most popular new items.
