Service Shuffle Leads to New Restaurant at Phipps Plaza

The Plymouth Rock, often called simply Rocks or Barred Rocks, is a chicken breed.
Rocks Chicken to open on the third floor of Phipps Plaza.

Rocks Chicken will open in place of Nail Elite, between Moe's Southwest Grill and Subway.  Nail Elite is being relocated elsewhere within the mall.  Nail Elite was the only tenant to have remained when Legoland took over basically all of the former food court.  Legoland's opening forced most eateries like Chick-fil-A, Sbarro, and Great Wraps to close while others such as Subway, Moe's Southwest Grill and Johnny Rockets were able to relocate.

A Simon representative was unaware of Rocks Chicken pending opening and was unable to share any details about their opening. As best I can tell, Rocks Chicken is an independent restaurant with no existing presence anywhere.  Given the many obstacles facing restaurants these days, especially in the city of Atlanta, I doubt Rocks Chicken will open as soon as some might hope.  Based on current intel, I'd speculate a late October / early November opening may be in the cards.

Nail Elite definitely has a following but simply didn't make sense sandwiched between restaurants.  The Nail Elite space measures 731 square feet. Their new home on the second floor will cost about $151,000 to convert to a salon. The similarly sized space is the current home of Q Tailors. Q Tailors will itself relocate from the right side of Belk to the left side of Belk, in place of Men's Wearhouse & Tux (Formerly known as MW Tux and before than After Hours Formalwear.)

Sources say that the new Q Tailors space should be completed within the next couple weeks with the Nail Elite opening soon after.

Hopefully the chicken place will work out. Anything to help get the lunch business back.

This is a test concept from Johnny Rockets. A press release from them will be coming soon.
