Umi Sushi Owners Opening New Concept

Popular sushi restaurant to open second concept

The owners of Umi, the successful sushi restaurant on West Paces Ferry Road are branching out with a new concept.  Thus far, plans/concept have not been finalized, but the concept will be close by, just a few doors down from Umi.

Umi opened last May, adjacent to the St. Regis and across from Chops Lobster Bar, and has quickly become one of the most popular sushi joints in Atlanta.

Umi is located in suite 1 of Two Buckhead Plaza.  The new 1,350 square foot space is suite 7, within the same building.

Fuyuhiko Ito, previously Executive Chef at the now defunct MF Buckhead, serves as both chef and partner at Umi and will likely be involved in the new concept.

Amyn Bana, GM of Umi, tells me that it has not yet been determined who will design the new concept or exactly what it will be like. One thing is clear:  while the building permit labels the project as "Nightclub/Lounge Building," Bana tells me the new concept will most certainly not be a nightclub.

The new concept is in its infancy stage and likely won't open until sometime in the first half of next year.
