John Gianoulidis Is A Few Bottles of Windex Away From Opening His New Restaurant

A glimpse inside the downstairs of Kafenio
A new restaurant is coming to College Park.

John Gianoulidis plans to open Kafenio, an all day Greek restaurant on Main Street in historic downtown College Park.

Kafenio, Greek for cafe, opens in place of "Our Place," a bakery & cafe that previously occupied the space and also featured live jazz.  The space is just over 4,100 square feet over two levels.

Gianoulidis describes the restaurant as "an upbeat and modern version of the traditional Mediterranean cafe."  Plans call for the restaurant to be open for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner with full coffee & espresso service in addition to a variety of spirits and craft beers.  Food options will include an assortment of  Mediterranean-inspired salads, sandwiches, pastas and "Mediterranean based small plates."

According to Kafenio's facebook page, the downstairs will have a "full-service event space."

Plans call for Kafenio to open "summer 2015."

Gianoulidis currently operates ParkGrounds "Coffee Unleashed," on Flat Shoals in Reynoldstown.  Previously, Gianoulidis was co-owner of Pallookaville Fine Foods in Avondale Estates and also ran a food stall called "The GREEK Gyros & Pizza" at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market downtown.
