Calle Latina to Open in Morningside?

Calle Latina to open in former Timone's?

Calle Latina, which Michael Condon of BaddaBing Catering opened on Church Street in downtown Decatur in early 2013, is in talks to open a second location.  The new location would be in Morningside in a spot most recently home to Timone's, a twice closed restaurant by chef Ron Eyester.

A lease has reportedly not yet been signed but could be finalized in the coming weeks if all goes well.

In 2014, Paul Vinces, the former owner of Peruvian tapas lounge Sweet Devil Moon, joined Calle Latina. Sweet Devil Moon first opened in Oakhurst in 2001 and subsequently relocated to Piedmont Avenue in midtown before closing permanently in 2007.

Vinces grew up in Trujillo, Peru and has a passion for food of the region. Some of his more popular dishes include ceviche and conchas a la parmesana and arroz con pollo as well as his specialty, sangria.

If the lease is finalized, it would mark the return of an ethnic eatery to the space following the 2010 closure of the popular Mexican eatery Caramba Cafe.

Would you be excited if Calle Latina expanded to Morningside?  Do you still miss Caramba Cafe?  Have you been to The Family Dog since it reopened, if so, what were your thoughts?

Please share your thoughts below.
