Salata Secures Space in Second Suburban Center

Salata, "The Next Generation Salad Bar," is coming to East Cobb.  The Houston, Texas-based salad joint will open in place of the former Uncle Maddio's Pizza at the Home Depot/T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods/Sprouts Farmers Market- anchored  Providence Square shopping center on Roswell Road.
Uncle Maddio's, the struggling Atlanta-based quick serve pizza joint started by Moe's Southwest Grill co-founder Matt Andrew, "temporarily" closed its East Cobb location this past April, the 21st closure for the 38 unit chain.

The Salata space is 3,000 square feet and occupies a freestanding building close to La Madeleine.

I first learned of Salata's plans to open at Providence Square a few months ago, but sources say a lease was only recently finalized.  A ToNeTo Atlanta reader also reports that as of today, the space displays a "Coming Soon" sign for Salata.

As ToNeTo Atlanta reported this past fall, Salata signed an area development agreement for up to 20 franchised locations in metro Atlanta over the next few years.   Unbeleafable Holdings, a subsidiary of Dallas, Texas-based private equity firm Henry Investment Group (HIG), secured the Atlanta development rights.

The first Atlanta area Salata restaurant is expected to open by Labor Day in place of a former Moe's Southwest Grill at Atlantic Station.  Another Salata is planned for Glenridge Point near Northside Hospital, also in place of a former Moe's.

Real estate sources indicate that Salata has also looked at/is in the works with leases near Toco Hills, Peachtree Center, Peachtree Corners and Duluth.

Are you excited for the addition of Salata to East Cobb?  Do you miss Uncle Maddio's Pizza?  Where else would you like to see Salata open?

Please share your thoughts below.

I will reserve judgement until Salata opens in Atlantic Station, but the menu doesn't look all that exciting, innovative or "next generation" to me.

Uh, dunno. There is a Chicken SALAD Chick across the parking lot and Sprout's a few doors down has prepack and a salad bar, then there is Whole Foods' prepared foods and salad bar across the street -- seems hecka crowded segment.

Bad news about Uncle Maddio's... REAL good pizza, quick service, reasonable prices. I can't see what the problem is.

I don't think it was well managed. Lots of staff turnover.

Banks are for people who have money. Please stop screaming that you don't have the need for a bank.
