[Privileged & Confidential] XXXXXX XXXXX To Open New Location in Sandy Springs

Norcross-based Waffle House plans to open a new location on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.  The new Waffle House would be built on a vacant outparcel of Loehmann's Plaza shopping center at 8610 Roswell Road, adjacent to the Sandy Springs Diner.  The parcel, which property documents indicate is seven tenths of an acre, is presently vacant, but with site work underway.

The shopping center, which sits on about 10.6 acres, was built in 1988 and was previously anchored by a location of the now defunct off-price retailer Loehmann's, but is today home to a a variety of random businesses.  Fulton County property records indicate that Lee Najjar, better known to some as "Big Poppa," today owns the shopping center via his company, NAJCO, INC.

The new Waffle House is expected to be in addition to the current Waffle House at the corner of Northridge and Roswell Roads, about seven tenths of a mile away.

In 2014, Waffle House opened a new location at 6445 Roswell Road which served as a replacement to its location on Mount Vernon Highway that was forced to close to make way for the new City Springs development.

After being contacted by a number of area residents about the development, ToNeTo Atlanta asked Sandy Springs Director of Communications Sharon Kraun what was opening.  Kraun said "I don't have any information" about the site in question, later adding  "The City is very transparent in its operations."  Disappointed at the apparent lack of transparency, we pressed further, to which Kraun responded that the "information is considered confidential," declining to answer our inquiry.

Fortunately, local sources as well as a Waffle House contact, were able to confirm the top secret plans of the all day breakfast restaurant.
Plans call for the new Waffle House to open in August.

Are you excited for another Waffle House in Sandy Springs?  Do you think the opening of a new Waffle House should qualify as "confidential information?"  What is your favorite Waffle House menu item?

Please share your thoughts below.

If my memory serves me correctly, there was a Waffle House that closed around the year 2000 just up the street in the back left corner of the North River Village shopping center (anchored by Stars and Stripes - believe it was formerly a Babies Universe or some sort of baby superstore). Since that Waffle House closed, the building has set vacant. Wonder if anyone else remembers this existing there?

Yes, there was once a Waffle House there.

There was a Waffle House there, but it’s been knocked down. I used to eat there in the middle of the night when I worked at Big Star ( which was the original tenant in the Stars and Strikes space).

I hope the Sandy Springs Diner takes a lead in a complete interior renovation. Their food is OK but their atmosphere is horrific. I don’t mind the 80’s style diner decor but it needs a complete rip and replace.
