Gio's Chicken Amalfitano will open its second Atlanta area location later this year. The new restaurant, coming to The Battery Atlanta at SunTrust Park, will open in place of FEED, another chicken joint, which quietly closed at the end of 2018. Gio's owner Giovanni Di Palma has applied to Cobb County for a beer/wine/liquor pour license according to signage at the restaurant.
Giovanni Di Palma opened his first Gio's Chicken Amalfitano on Hemphill Avenue in Atlanta's Home Park neighborhood in late 2012. There, alongside Giovanni's original Antico Pizza Napoletana, Gio later opened other concepts that became collectively known as Little Italia.

A representative of the restaurant registered "Gio's Chicken Battery, LLC" with the Georgia Secretary of State's office on March 14.

In an email to ToNeTo Atlanta, Marc Taft, chef and owner of FEED, cited an "over saturated market," light traffic, as well as portions of The Battery being "undeveloped and unleased," among other issues, as factors that led to his restaurant's closure.
With the Braves starting out their third season at SunTrust Park well, Gio's could primed for a debut just in time for what we can all hope is a deep post season run!

Just like every business that fails, FEED makes excuses. FEED failed because their food failed. I went there the day it opened and the food was phenomenal. My thought was - if your food is this good on day 1, you're golden. Well, next time I went, the chicken wasn't freshly fried. Next time, sides weren't good, etc. So in my view FEED failed because their food failed. Make all the excuses you want. Antico is a destination - game day or not. If FEED could make good food, they could've been a destination too. That being said, I'm thrilled to see Gio's coming to the Battery and wish them the best of luck.
What's the status of the Sandy Springs Location at Hammond and Bolyston?
Agree with CloseOTP. Feed was dreadful. Slow service, below mediocre chicken that was actually served raw to me the second time I tried to give them a shot. The mac n cheese was super bland. Managers were no help on either occasion.
I've eaten almost everywhere in the Battery at least twice (mostly on non-gamedays) and it was the only one I would refuse to go back to.
