[ALERT] Ponko Chicken is Coming to Lenox Square!

ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that Ponko Chicken has secured space in Lenox Square for its sixth restaurant.  The new outpost, to be located in the the Food Court Fashion Cafe Dining Pavilion, is expected to open within the next 90 days according to a representative for the restaurant.  The new Ponko replaces Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe, which shuttered its Lenox Square restaurant this past November after about four years in business.
In Lenox Square, Ponko is seemingly eager to take on powerhouse chain Chick-fil-A head-on, as the popular fast food chain has operated a hugely successful location in the mall for decades.

The roughly 600 square foot space will be franchisee-owned and be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

Atlanta-based Ponko currently has four locations open: Midtown, Buckhead near Chastain Park, Marietta at Marietta Square Market, and its flagship on Chamblee Tucker Road, just off I-85. A fifth location is expected to open soon in Decatur in place of Steel City Pops which closed this past fall.
A release announcing the Lenox Square location said "PONKO Franchise Corporation currently has agreements to open over 25 stores in various locations throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan Area."

In addition to the Atlanta market, where new stores are coming soon to Alpharetta and Woodstock, a representative with the chain tells ToNeTo Atlanta that the company has started offering franchises outside of Georgia.

Are you excited for the planned opening of Ponko Chicken at Lenox Square?  Have you ever been to Ponko Chicken?  Where would you like to see Ponko Chicken open next?

It used to be Barnie’s Coffee and Tea Co. They should have come back to Lenox. There needs to be a coffee place down there in the eating area.

I like Ponko but I worry they are expanding way too quickly.....

I find Ponko to be too one-note. Just not my cup of tea. But I agree with Greenwave, expanding too quickly and too one-dimensional. Most of their stores won't be around in five years.

I really like Ponko Chicken but it does remind of how Cafe at Pharr over expanded very quickly.

Horrible experience there today. I was behind a guy who was socializing with the cashier. She completely ignored me. She follows him to the other end of the counter and leaves me standing there. I decided to go elsewhere. With employees like that, they'll be out of business soon.
